Electric blankets suit Black Friday well: the sales land as the nights turn cold, and last year two of our Picks hit their lowest prices between the week before Thanksgiving and early December. A month out, the clearest saving among our Picks is the Beautyrest queen, at about $15 under its 90-day average from Amazon and within a few dollars of its lowest price of the year. Every throw on the page costs its usual price or more.
We checked every price against what each blanket sold for on Amazon over the past 90 days and its lowest price of the past year, not the list price. Where a Pick is not discounted, or is sold by a third-party seller, we say so.
Our picks at a glance
8 deals1.The sofa throw that topped Good Housekeeping's and NBC Select's lists. A few dollars above its usual price now; it sold for about $37 in August.
2.Our bed blanket for couples: two controllers, 20 settings each and a preheat button. About $15 under its 90-day average from Amazon.
3.The cheapest throw we would buy, and the budget pick at NBC Select and Reviewed. Near its usual price; it fell to $27 in September.
4.A thin queen blanket that sits under a comforter, with the easiest controller Reviewed tested. About $5 under its usual price.
5.For people whose feet get cold first: a foot pocket and even heat to 111°F in Yahoo's test. At its usual price from Amazon.
6.A thicker, reversible Bedsure throw that reached 113°F in Yahoo's test. Well above its usual price; it fell under $44 last November.
7.The full-size blanket with the longest heated area Yahoo measured, and it can go in the dryer. A few dollars above its usual price.
8.The cordless pick for bleachers, campsites and power outages, with about three hours per charge on medium. At its usual price.
Our picks
#1Best overall
Bedsure Flannel Heated Throw with Preheat, 50 x 60
by Bedsure
This Bedsure throw is the electric blanket the most reviewers agree on. Good Housekeeping's 2026 lab tests put it first, NBC Select names it its best overall, and CNN Underscored rated its heating well. It suits anyone who wants a warm layer on the sofa or over their legs at a desk, with enough settings to fine-tune and a timer long enough for a movie night.
Skip it if you want to heat a bed. At 50 x 60 inches it covers a person, not a mattress; the Beautyrest queen below is the one for that.
It is not a deal yet. A third-party seller, not Amazon, had it for about $50 when we checked, roughly $4 above its 90-day average. It sold for under $37 in early August, and that is the price we would wait for.
Pros
- +Best overall at both Good Housekeeping and NBC Select
- +Six heat settings plus a preheat mode
- +Timer runs up to 10 hours
- +Steady heat in CNN Underscored's testing
Cons
- −Throw size, too small to cover a bed
- Size
- 50 x 60 in
- Power
- Plug-in
- Heat settings
- 6
- Auto-off
- Up to 10 hours

#2
Beautyrest Heated Blanket, Queen
by Beautyrest
For a bed, this Beautyrest is where we would start. Sleep Foundation ranks it the best electric blanket overall, and NBC Select also includes Beautyrest's micro fleece queen. The queen comes with two controllers, each with 20 settings, so partners who run hot and cold can each set their own side. A preheat button warms the bed quickly before you get in.
Reviewed found the controllers bulky and the warm-up slow without preheat on a close Beautyrest sibling, and the Amazon owner rating sits just under 4 stars, lower than the other bed blankets here. If you want a thinner blanket to layer under a heavy comforter, the Sunbeam Royal Ultra suits that better.
At about $75 from Amazon, it is roughly $15 under its 90-day average and about $4 above its 12-month low from early October. This is the best saving on the page as we checked it.
Pros
- +Sleep Foundation's best overall electric blanket
- +Two controllers on the queen, one per side
- +20 heat settings and a preheat button
- +Timer from 1 to 10 hours
Cons
- −Bulky controllers and slow warm-up on a sibling Reviewed tested
- −Amazon owner rating just under 4 stars
- Size
- Queen
- Power
- Plug-in
- Heat settings
- 20
- Auto-off
- 1 to 10 hours
- Controllers

#3Best budget
Tefici Flannel Heated Throw, 50 x 60
by Tefici
The Tefici is the cheapest throw we would put on a sofa. NBC Select and Reviewed both make it their budget pick, and Your Best Digs measured it reaching 105°F in under 15 minutes. Three heat settings and a 4-hour shutoff cover what most people use a throw for, and the long cord helps in rooms where the outlet is across the floor.
The compromises show up close: Reviewed could feel the wires and found the controller oversized, and Your Best Digs noted a wide unheated border. If you can spend about $6 more, the Sunbeam foot-pocket throw heated evenly from end to end in Yahoo's test.
A third-party seller had it at about $33 when we checked, about a dollar over its 90-day average. It dropped to $27 in mid-September, so a Black Friday price under $30 would be worth taking.
Pros
- +Budget pick at both NBC Select and Reviewed
- +Reached 105°F in under 15 minutes in Your Best Digs' test
- +Long cord reaches a distant outlet
Cons
- −Heating wires can be felt through the fabric
- −Wide unheated border
- −Oversized, awkward controller
- −Untidy hems
- Size
- 50 x 60 in
- Power
- Plug-in
- Heat settings
- 3
- Auto-off
- 4 hours

#4
Sunbeam Royal Ultra Fleece Heated Blanket, Queen
by Sunbeam
This Sunbeam is the queen blanket for people who already own a comforter they love. It is thin enough to sit under one without making the bed bulky, and Reviewed rated its digital up and down controller the best designed of any it tested. The timer runs from 1 to 12 hours, longer than the Beautyrest's, and Mattress Clarity found no cold spots and noted a five-year warranty.
The thin build has a cost. Reviewed could feel the wires, the unheated border is large, and Taste of Home found the fabric dense and flat rather than plush. If you want the blanket itself to be the cozy layer, the Beautyrest is the better choice.
At about $80 from Amazon, it is around $5 under its 90-day average and about $4 above its lowest price of the past year, from early January. A modest cut.
Pros
- +Digital up and down controller, the best Reviewed tested
- +Timer adjusts from 1 to 12 hours
- +No cold spots in Mattress Clarity's test
- +Five-year warranty
Cons
- −Thin, so it adds little warmth unplugged
- −Wires are easy to feel
- −Large unheated border
- −Flat, dense fabric rather than plush
- Size
- Queen, 90 x 84 in
- Power
- Plug-in
- Heat settings
- 12
- Auto-off
- 1 to 12 hours
- Controllers
- 2

#6
Bedsure Striped Flannel to Sherpa Heated Throw, 50 x 60
by Bedsure
The striped Bedsure is a thicker, reversible take on our top pick, with flannel on one side and sherpa on the other. Yahoo Shopping measured 113°F on high, a little warmer than the Sunbeam foot-pocket throw, and its colors held after washing. It suits readers who want a throw that feels substantial even when it is switched off.
Like the Sunbeam foot-pocket throw, it can only be partly tumble-dried, and the care label sits on the top.
Price is the problem. A third-party seller had it at about $66 when we checked, roughly $8 above its 90-day average and $16 more than our top pick. Last year it fell under $44 the week before Thanksgiving. Unless it returns to that range, buy the Bedsure throw at rank 1 instead.
Pros
- +Measured 93°F on low and 113°F on high in Yahoo's test
- +Reversible, with flannel on one side and sherpa on the other
- +Colors held up after washing
- +Six heat and six timer settings
Cons
- −Only partly safe for the dryer
- −Care label sits on the top side
- Size
- 50 x 60 in
- Power
- Plug-in
- Heat settings
- 6
- Timer settings

#7
Serta Plush Heated Blanket, Full
by Serta
The Serta is our pick for a full-size bed, and for anyone who hates fussing with laundry. Yahoo Shopping tested this exact blanket and found it had the longest heated zone of the group, and it can go through a full dryer cycle.
It does not run as hot as the others. Yahoo measured a peak of 104°F, and the fleece is only medium-thick. We could only find the full and king sizes on Amazon, so queen owners should buy the Beautyrest or the Sunbeam Royal Ultra.
At about $95 from Amazon, it costs around $6 more than its 90-day average. It sold for under $71 in early January, so there is room for a real Black Friday cut.
Pros
- +Longest heated zone of any blanket in Yahoo's test
- +Fully safe for the dryer
- +ETL safety certified
Cons
- −Topped out at 104°F, cooler than most rivals
- −Medium-thick fleece, not plush
- −Full size, short of a queen bed's width
- Size
- Full
- Power
- Plug-in
- Peak heat
- 104°F in Yahoo's test
- Safety
- ETL certified

ActionHeat 7V Battery Heated Plush Throw
by ActionHeat
The ActionHeat is the only Pick that works without an outlet. It runs from a removable battery with a charge indicator, which makes it the one for bleachers, campsites, car trips and power outages. Taste of Home got about three hours per charge on medium, matching the manual, and measured temperatures from 87°F to 119°F.
It is a small throw at 31.5 x 55 inches, the fabric is slippery, and the heat covers only part of it. It also has only a handful of Amazon owner reviews so far. If you will always be near a plug, the Bedsure or Tefici throws cost far less.
A third-party seller had it at about $120 when we checked, the same price it has held all year. Nothing here suggests a discount is coming.
Pros
- +No cord: runs from a removable rechargeable battery
- +About 3 hours per charge on medium in Taste of Home's test
- +Measured 87°F to 119°F
- +Battery shows how much charge is left
Cons
- −Small at 31.5 x 55 inches
- −Slippery fabric
- −Heat covers only part of the throw
- −Must hang to dry
- Size
- 31.5 x 55 in
- Power
- 7V rechargeable battery
- Runtime
- About 3 hours on medium
- Measured heat
- 87°F to 119°F

How to choose an electric blanket this Black Friday
Pick the size for where you will use it. A 50 x 60 inch throw covers one person on a sofa and nothing more. For a bed, buy the blanket in your mattress size; the Serta here comes in full and king, and the Beautyrest and Sunbeam Royal Ultra come in queen.
Get two controllers if you share a bed. One person almost always wants more heat than the other. The queen Beautyrest and Sunbeam Royal Ultra each have a controller per side, which ends the argument.
Check how long the timer runs. The Tefici and Sunbeam foot-pocket throws shut off after 4 hours, which is fine for an evening but not a night. The Beautyrest runs up to 10 hours and the Sunbeam Royal Ultra up to 12.
Ignore the list price. The Beautyrest queen shows a list price near $165, but it has averaged about $90 over the past 90 days. Judge a deal by that recent average and by the 12-month low we quote in every Pick.
Check the seller and test it early. Several of these throws were sold by third-party sellers when we checked. Run a new blanket on every setting within the return window, because uneven heat and faulty controllers show up in the first few nights.
How we chose these electric blanket deals
Every deal on this page was selected and checked by Ed Hollinghurst. We start from products with a strong track record in independent reviews and owner feedback, then compare the current Black Friday price against the product's typical selling price over the past months, not just the inflated list price. A deal only makes the cut if the product is genuinely good and the discount is real.
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon.com at the time of purchase will apply to the purchase of this product.
