A month before Black Friday, most of the flagship headphones below cost about what they have sold for since summer. Two pairs are already cheaper: Sony's WH-CH730N is more than $45 under its 90-day average and at its lowest price of the past year, and the Sennheiser Momentum 5 is about $50 under its recent average. Several others sold for less earlier this year, so Black Friday has a bar to clear.
We checked every price against what each pair sold for on Amazon over the past 90 days and its lowest price of the past year, not the list price. Where a pair is not discounted, or is sold by a third-party seller, its Pick says so.
Our picks at a glance
7 deals1.Our pick for any phone: top-tier noise cancelling, a full-featured app and LDAC. Not discounted yet; it sold for less in early October.
2.Light, comfortable and quiet, with lossless USB-C audio. Close to its usual price now; it sold for under $290 in August.
3.Most of the XM6's noise cancelling and call quality for about $135 less. At its usual price now; it fell under $200 in June.
4.Strong noise cancelling, about 50 hours of battery and LDAC for around $130. A little above its usual price right now.
5.Sony's light budget pair with the flagship app and 50-hour battery, at its lowest price of the past year.
6.The pair for iPhone owners who want the strongest noise cancelling SoundGuys has measured. About $10 under its usual price.
7.Our pick for sound and battery life, with a battery you can replace. About $50 under its usual price.
Our picks
#1Best overall
Sony WH-1000XM6
by Sony
The WH-1000XM6 is the pair we would buy for any phone. SoundGuys, What Hi-Fi and Expert Reviews all put it first among wireless headphones, and RTINGS named it its best noise-cancelling pair last year. SoundGuys praised Sony's app, multipoint works the same on iPhone and Android, and SoundGuys got more than 37 hours from a charge with noise cancelling on. Unlike the XM5, it folds again.
Skip it if you want to listen over a USB-C cable, which it does not support. Reviewers also found the bass a touch heavy until you adjust the EQ.
This is not a deal yet. At just under $400 it costs about $13 more than its 90-day average and about $30 more than its early-October low, and the listing we track was sold by a third-party seller, not Amazon, when we checked. We would wait for Black Friday week.
Pros
- +Noise cancelling among the best available
- +More than 37 hours with ANC on in SoundGuys testing
- +Multipoint and LDAC on iPhone and Android alike
- +Folds into a compact case
Cons
- −No wired listening over USB-C
- −Slightly bass-heavy out of the box
- −Shallow earpads for some ears
- Battery (ANC on)
- 30 hours
- Weight
- 254 g
- Hi-res codec
- LDAC
- Best with
- iPhone or Android

Bose QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen)
by Bose
We chose Bose's new QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) over the pricier QuietComfort Ultra (2nd Gen), which Amazon only offered as a third-party charger bundle above its usual price when we checked. SoundGuys suggests looking at this pair before paying for the Ultra anyway: it borrows the Ultra's Immersive Audio and lossless USB-C listening, and Engadget singled out its comfort. That makes it the one for long flights and anyone who wears headphones for hours at a stretch.
The trade-offs are a 24-hour battery, the shortest here apart from the AirPods Max 2, and no LDAC or aptX.
At about $360 from Amazon, it costs a few dollars more than its 90-day average. It sold for about $287 in mid-August, so Bose has shown it will cut the price.
Pros
- +Comfortable for long flights at 230 g
- +Strong noise cancelling
- +Lossless audio over a USB-C cable
- +Immersive Audio spatial mode from the Ultra
Cons
- −24-hour battery trails Sony and Sennheiser
- −No LDAC or aptX support
- −No wear detection
- Battery (ANC on)
- 24 hours
- Weight
- 230 g
- Hi-res codec
- None (SBC, AAC)
- Best with
- iPhone or Android

Last generation's flagship remains the sensible way into Sony's top tier. The noise cancelling and call quality are close to the XM6, it has the same LDAC and multipoint support, and SoundGuys argued it is the easier buy of the two at sale prices. It suits anyone who wants the flagship experience and can live without the newer model's refinements.
The earcups do not fold inward, so the case takes more room in a bag than the XM6's.
The saving on the card is measured against a $400 list price it rarely sells for now. At about $265 from a third-party seller, it costs roughly what it has averaged over the past three months, though that is still about $135 less than the XM6. It fell to $198 in late June, and that is the price we would hold out for.
Pros
- +Noise cancelling close to the XM6
- +Clear microphones for calls
- +LDAC and multipoint
- +Light at 250 g
Cons
- −Earcups don't fold, so the case is bulky
- −No wired listening over USB-C
- Battery (ANC on)
- 30 hours
- Weight
- 250 g
- Hi-res codec
- LDAC
- Best with
- iPhone or Android

#4Best budget
Soundcore Space 2
by Anker
The Space 2 is where we would start with about $130 to spend. SoundGuys ran it for 53 hours with noise cancelling on and rated it among the most comfortable budget pairs it has tested. Gizmodo found its noise cancelling short of Bose's but strong for the money, and Tom's Guide found it better than the Space One. LDAC support is a bonus for Android owners.
Plan to spend two minutes in the app: the default tuning sounds boxy, and the transparency mode is not convincing. SoundGuys also found the earcups warm after an hour.
Right now it is not a deal. A third-party seller had it at about $9 over its 90-day average when we checked, and it dropped to about $106 as recently as October 19.
Pros
- +About 50 hours with ANC on
- +Noise cancelling well above its price class
- +LDAC support
- +Generous, soft padding
Cons
- −Boxy default tuning needs a pass with the EQ
- −Earcups get warm after an hour
- −Transparency mode sounds artificial
- Battery (ANC on)
- 50 hours
- Weight
- 264 g
- Hi-res codec
- LDAC
- Best with
- iPhone or Android

This is the clearest saving on the list as we checked it. At $128 from Amazon, the CH730N sits more than $45 under its 90-day average and matches its lowest price of the past year. Tom's Guide thought the $180 launch price was too high; this price answers that complaint.
Sony's 2026 budget pair keeps the flagships' app, 10-band EQ and multipoint, runs about 50 hours with noise cancelling on, and is the lightest pair here. What Hi-Fi names it its best budget noise-cancelling pair. SoundGuys and TechRadar both found the noise cancelling modest, though, so frequent flyers should spend the same money on the Space 2 instead. It suits offices, commutes and anyone who wants a light pair for all-day wear.
Pros
- +Lightest pair here at 207 g
- +About 50 hours with ANC on
- +Sony app with a 10-band EQ and multipoint
- +Folds for travel
Cons
- −Noise cancelling is modest
- −No LDAC
- −Unusual default tuning
- −No wear detection
- Battery (ANC on)
- 50 hours
- Weight
- 207 g
- Hi-res codec
- None (SBC, AAC, LC3)
- Best with
- iPhone or Android

#6Best premium
Apple AirPods Max 2
by Apple
For iPhone owners who will pay for the best, this is it. SoundGuys measured stronger noise cancelling from the AirPods Max 2 than from anything else on its list, and Gizmodo put it level with Bose's best. It plays lossless audio over a USB-C cable, and switching between an iPhone, iPad and Mac takes no effort.
Android owners should skip it, because most of what you pay for disappears without an Apple device; the Sony WH-1000XM6 is the better buy. At 386 g it is the heaviest pair here, and 9to5Mac and AppleInsider both describe it as a modest update to the same design.
At $449 from Amazon it sits about $10 under its 90-day average, a small cut. It sold for $399 in late June.
Pros
- +Top noise cancelling score on SoundGuys' list
- +Aluminum earcups and a steel headband
- +Lossless audio over a USB-C cable
- +Automatic switching across Apple devices
Cons
- −Heavy at 386 g
- −About 20 hours of battery
- −Most features need an iPhone, iPad or Mac
- Battery (ANC on)
- 20 hours
- Weight
- 386 g
- Hi-res codec
- None (AAC)
- Best with
- iPhone

Sennheiser Momentum 5 Wireless
by Sennheiser
The Momentum 5 is our pick for people who care most about sound and battery life. MusicTech gave it 9 out of 10, What Hi-Fi rates its sound among the best of the mainstream noise-cancelling pairs, and SoundGuys got more than 50 hours with noise cancelling on. A battery you can replace yourself is rare in this class. CGMagazine wore it through a five-hour flight without complaint.
Techwalla and Headfonics both found its noise cancelling a step behind Sony's and Bose's, so if blocking noise is the priority, the WH-1000XM6 is the better buy. The bass also sits well above neutral.
At just under $350 from Amazon, it is about $50 under its 90-day average and within a dollar of its lowest price of the past year. Amazon showed a delayed ship date when we checked, so gift buyers should look at the delivery estimate before ordering.
Pros
- +More than 50 hours with ANC on in SoundGuys testing
- +User-replaceable battery
- +aptX Adaptive, plus wired USB-C and 3.5 mm listening
- +Detailed, full sound
Cons
- −Noise cancelling trails Sony and Bose
- −Bass sits well above neutral
- −Heavier than the Sony and Bose pairs
- Battery (ANC on)
- 57 hours
- Weight
- 290 g
- Hi-res codec
- aptX Adaptive
- Best with
- iPhone or Android

How to choose headphones this Black Friday
Decide how much noise cancelling you need. If you fly or ride trains, the Sony WH-1000XM6, the Bose and the AirPods Max 2 block the most low rumble. For an office or a quiet commute, the WH-CH730N or the Space 2 does the job for about a third of the price.
Match the headphones to your phone. The AirPods Max 2 only make sense with an iPhone. Every other pair here works the same on iPhone and Android, but LDAC and aptX Adaptive only help on Android, because iPhones do not support either codec.
Weigh battery against weight if you travel. The Space 2, WH-CH730N and Momentum 5 all run about 50 hours or more with noise cancelling on, while the Bose manages 24 and the AirPods Max 2 about 20. Weight ranges from 207 g for the WH-CH730N to 386 g for the AirPods Max 2, and you will notice the difference on a long flight.
Ignore the list price. The struck-through price on a card is often a number nobody has paid in months. Judge a deal by what the pair sold for over the past 90 days and by its 12-month low, which we quote in every Pick.
Check the seller and the return window. Some listings here were sold by third-party sellers when we checked. Amazon usually extends returns over the holidays, but confirm the return date on your order page, because comfort is personal and you may want to send a pair back.
How we chose these headphones deals
Every deal on this page was selected and checked by Ed Hollinghurst. We start from products with a strong track record in independent reviews and owner feedback, then compare the current Black Friday price against the product's typical selling price over the past months, not just the inflated list price. A deal only makes the cut if the product is genuinely good and the discount is real.
