Amazon cuts iPad prices around most big sales, and this year the size of the cut matters more than usual. Apple raised its US iPad prices on June 25, citing the memory shortage, so even the base iPad now lists at $449. A month before Black Friday, every iPad below sells within about $35 of its recent average. The biggest gap so far is the 11-inch iPad Pro (M5) in Silver, about $33 under.
We judged every price against what each iPad sold for on Amazon over the past 90 days, not Apple's list price. Every 12-month low on this page came before the June increase, so we do not treat them as a target. Every iPad below is sold by Amazon itself.
Our picks at a glance
7 deals1.The iPad we would tell most people to buy: M4 speed, Apple Intelligence and Pencil Pro support. At its usual Amazon price for now, not discounted.
2.The cheapest new iPad, and plenty for streaming, homework and video calls. A few dollars under its usual Amazon price; no Apple Intelligence.
3.The one-hand iPad for reading and travel. Just under $20 below its recent average, but Apple's OLED iPad mini arrives November 6.
4.The cheapest 13-inch iPad, for drawing, split-screen work and movies. Selling at about its usual Amazon price, not discounted yet.
5.OLED, 120Hz and Face ID in the portable size. About $33 under its recent average in Silver, and about $200 more than the 13-inch Air.
6.The best iPad there is: a 13-inch OLED screen and M5 speed for laptop-style work. About $17 under its 90-day average.
7.Our top pick with double the storage, for readers who keep an iPad five years. A few dollars under its usual price, with a delayed ship date.

#1Best overall
Apple iPad Air 11-inch (M4), 128GB, Wi-Fi
by Apple
The 11-inch Air is the iPad TechRadar, WhistleOut and Stuff point most people toward, and we agree. Tom's Guide measured about 13% more multi-core speed than the M3 model in Geekbench. It runs Apple Intelligence and takes the Apple Pencil Pro, and its laminated screen puts the image right under the glass, which makes handwriting and sketching feel more direct than on the base iPad.
Skip it if you want a 120Hz screen or Face ID; both are iPad Pro features. If you can live without the Air's extras, the base iPad below costs about $300 less.
At $699 from Amazon, it sells for about $10 more than its 90-day average, so this is not a deal yet. Its $519 low in June came two days before Apple's price increase.
Pros
- +M4 chip with 12GB of memory
- +Runs Apple Intelligence
- +Works with the Apple Pencil Pro and Magic Keyboard for iPad Air
- +Laminated screen, unlike the base iPad
- +Wi-Fi 7 through Apple's N1 chip
Cons
- −60Hz LCD, with no ProMotion or OLED
- −No Face ID
- −Battery life unchanged from the M3 model
- Chip
- M4
- Screen
- 11-inch LCD
- Refresh rate
- 60Hz

#2Best budget
Apple iPad 11-inch (A16), 128GB, Wi-Fi
by Apple
The base iPad covers what most families use a tablet for: streaming, homework, games and video calls. Tom's Guide said Apple nailed the affordable tablet, and TechRadar still counts it among the best tablets you can buy despite its gaps.
Those gaps are real. It does not run Apple Intelligence, it works only with the cheaper Apple Pencils, and Tom's Guide and TechRadar both found the glossy screen hard to read in bright light. Students who take handwritten notes should spend more on the Air.
At $399 from Amazon, it is only a few dollars under its 90-day average; the $50 saving on the card is measured against the list price. Its lowest price of the past year came over Thanksgiving weekend 2025, before Apple's increase, and we would not expect that price again.
Pros
- +The least expensive new iPad Apple makes
- +Fast enough for streaming, school apps and games
- +Front camera on the long edge for video calls
- +4.7 stars from nearly 30,000 Amazon ratings
Cons
- −No Apple Intelligence
- −Glossy, non-laminated screen is hard to read in bright light
- −Works only with the USB-C and first-generation Apple Pencils
- −Thicker and heavier than the iPad Air
- Chip
- A16
- Screen
- 11-inch LCD
- Refresh rate
- 60Hz
- Unlock
- Touch ID
- Apple Pencil
- USB-C, 1st generation
- Apple Intelligence

#3
Apple iPad mini (A17 Pro), 128GB, Wi-Fi
by Apple
The mini is the only iPad you can comfortably hold in one hand for an hour, which makes it the one for reading, travel and young kids. Engadget welcomed the fix for the previous model's jelly scrolling and the move to the Apple Pencil Pro. Stuff was less impressed, calling the 60Hz screen a lingering irritation, and The Verge called the update a head-scratcher in a design unchanged since 2021.
Timing is the bigger question. On October 26 Apple announced an OLED iPad mini with an A20 Pro chip, an 8.5-inch screen and IP67 water resistance, from $699, about $150 more than this one as we checked, and in stores November 6. If you want a small iPad to keep for years, wait for it. This model is the pick only if you want a small iPad for less.
At $545 from Amazon in Purple, it is about $18 under its 90-day average. That is a modest cut for a model Apple has already replaced.
Pros
- +Small and light enough to hold in one hand
- +Runs Apple Intelligence
- +Works with the Apple Pencil Pro
- +Jelly scrolling from the previous mini is fixed
Cons
- −60Hz LCD
- −Design unchanged since 2021
- −Now the previous generation, replaced by an OLED model
- Chip
- A17 Pro
- Screen
- 8.3-inch LCD
- Refresh rate
- 60Hz
- Unlock
- Touch ID
- Apple Pencil
- Pencil Pro, USB-C

#4
Apple iPad Air 13-inch (M4), 128GB, Wi-Fi
by Apple
The 13-inch Air costs about $500 less than the 13-inch Pro as we checked, which makes it the big-screen iPad for drawing, two apps side by side and movies in bed. TechRadar praised its vibrant, sharp screen, and Notebookcheck called it the iPad Pro's fiercest competitor. It has the same M4 chip and 12GB of memory as the 11-inch Air, so the extra money goes on screen size alone.
It shares the 11-inch model's limits, with a 60Hz screen and no Face ID. Notebookcheck also found it throttles under long, heavy loads, so anyone editing video for hours should look at the 13-inch Pro.
At $899 from Amazon, it sells for about $12 more than its 90-day average, so this is not a deal yet. It costs $200 more than the 11-inch Air.
Pros
- +The least expensive way to a 13-inch iPad
- +Sharp, vibrant screen with room for two apps side by side
- +Same M4 chip and 12GB of memory as the 11-inch Air
- +A large canvas for drawing with the Apple Pencil Pro
Cons
- −60Hz LCD, with no ProMotion or OLED
- −No Face ID
- −Slows down under long, heavy workloads
- Chip
- M4
- Screen
- 13-inch LCD
- Refresh rate
- 60Hz

#5
Apple iPad Pro 11-inch (M5), 256GB, Wi-Fi
by Apple
The 11-inch Pro is for artists and heavy users who want the best iPad screen in a size that fits any bag. Its tandem OLED panel and 120Hz ProMotion are a clear step up from the Air's LCD, and it adds Face ID and a LiDAR scanner. Macworld calls the iPad Pro the best tablet on the market, and Creative Bloq gave it 9 out of 10 for people who will use the power. MacRumors expects no new iPad Pro in 2026.
If you already own an M4 Pro, skip it; Engadget called the M5 a minor spec bump.
The Silver model was about $40 cheaper than Space Black when we checked, at about $1,100 and about $33 under its 90-day average. That still puts it about $200 above the 13-inch Air, the better choice if you want a bigger screen more than OLED.
Pros
- +Tandem OLED screen with 120Hz ProMotion
- +Face ID and a LiDAR scanner
- +M5 chip, with no replacement expected in 2026
- +Wi-Fi 7 through Apple's N1 chip
Cons
- −A small step up from the M4 iPad Pro
- −iPadOS limits how much of the M5 you can use
- Chip
- M5
- Screen
- 11-inch tandem OLED
- Refresh rate
- 120Hz
- Unlock
- Face ID
- Apple Pencil
- Pencil Pro, USB-C

#6Best premium
Apple iPad Pro 13-inch (M5), 256GB, Wi-Fi
by Apple
This is the best iPad you can buy, and the one that comes closest to replacing a laptop. It pairs the largest iPad screen size with Apple's tandem OLED panel at 120Hz, and with the Magic Keyboard attached it handles writing, photo editing and video calls like a light laptop. Macworld names it its best iPad for replacing a laptop, and T3 also rates the M5 Pro as a laptop alternative. Expert Reviews found it as brilliant, and as expensive, as ever.
At this size it is tiring to hold in one hand, and iPadOS still limits how much of the M5 you can put to work compared with a Mac. If most of your work is typing, compare it with a MacBook in our laptop deals.
At about $1,400 from Amazon, it sits about $17 under its 90-day average. Last year's 13-inch M4 Pro is still listed, but at $1,499 for 512GB it cost more than this model when we checked, so we left it out.
Pros
- +Tandem OLED at the largest iPad screen size
- +120Hz ProMotion and Face ID
- +Works as a laptop with the Magic Keyboard
- +M5 chip, with no replacement expected in 2026
Cons
- −Too big and heavy to hold in one hand for long
- −A small step up from the M4 iPad Pro
- −iPadOS limits how much of the M5 you can use
- Chip
- M5
- Screen
- 13-inch tandem OLED
- Refresh rate
- 120Hz
- Unlock
- Face ID
- Apple Pencil
- Pencil Pro, USB-C
- Apple Intelligence

#7
Apple iPad Air 11-inch (M4), 256GB, Wi-Fi
by Apple
This is our top pick with 256GB of storage instead of 128GB. If you expect to keep an iPad five years, we would buy the larger tier, because downloaded films, big games and app updates fill 128GB sooner than most people expect. The chip, screen and accessories are the same, so the 128GB model above makes the full case.
Buy this one if you download video for flights or keep a large photo library on the iPad. Stick with 128GB if you mostly stream.
At $799 from Amazon, it is a few dollars under its 90-day average and $100 more than the 128GB model. Amazon was quoting a delayed ship date when we checked, so gift buyers should look at the delivery estimate before ordering.
Pros
- +Twice the storage of the 128GB Air for offline video and games
- +Same M4 chip and 12GB of memory
- +Works with the Apple Pencil Pro and Magic Keyboard for iPad Air
Cons
- −60Hz LCD, with no ProMotion or OLED
- −No Face ID
- Chip
- M4
- Screen
- 11-inch LCD
- Refresh rate
- 60Hz
- Unlock
- Touch ID
- Apple Pencil
- Pencil Pro, USB-C
- Apple Intelligence
- Yes

How to choose an iPad this Black Friday
Pick the screen size first. The 8.3-inch mini suits one-handed reading and travel, the 11-inch models suit most people, and the 13-inch Air or Pro makes sense for drawing, split-screen work or use as a laptop. Going from 11 to 13 inches added about $200 to the Air and about $300 to the Pro as we checked.
Decide whether you need Apple Intelligence and the Apple Pencil Pro. The base iPad (A16) supports neither, and it works only with the USB-C and first-generation Pencils. Every other iPad here supports both, which matters most for students and anyone who sketches.
Pay for OLED only if you will notice it. The iPad Pro's tandem OLED screen and 120Hz refresh rate make a real difference for artists, video editors and HDR movies. For reading, browsing and notes, the Air's 60Hz LCD is fine, and the 11-inch Air cost about $400 less than the 11-inch Pro as we checked.
Ignore the list price and the pre-increase lows. Apple's June increase lifted every list price, and every 12-month low on this page came before it. The saving on each card is measured against the list price; the number that tells you whether a deal is real is the 90-day average we quote in every Pick.
Buy Wi-Fi and enough storage, and check the return date. A cellular model costs more and needs a plan, and your phone's hotspot covers occasional use. Choose 256GB if you download video or plan to keep the iPad five years. Amazon usually extends returns over the holidays, but confirm the date on your order page.
How we chose these ipad deals
Every deal on this page was selected and checked by Ed Hollinghurst. We start from products with a strong track record in independent reviews and owner feedback, then compare the current Black Friday price against the product's typical selling price over the past months, not just the inflated list price. A deal only makes the cut if the product is genuinely good and the discount is real.
