Nespresso machines get some of their biggest cuts of the year around Thanksgiving. Last year Amazon's price on the Vertuo Pop+ fell to about $76 and the Vertuo Lattissima to about $292 on the Sunday after Thanksgiving, both their lowest in twelve months. One deal has already started: the original Vertuo by Breville is about $131 as we write in late October, nearly 40% below what it has sold for over the past three months.
We compared every Amazon price with the machine's average over the past 90 days and its low over the past year, not with the list price. Two picks are not discounted yet and three more are only a little under their usual price; we say so in each one.
Our picks at a glance
8 deals1.The newest Vertuo, with an Over Ice mode and a settings button, for most coffee drinkers. About $10 under its usual price; it hit about $159 in October.
2.The cheapest way into Vertuo, with the same capsules as the rest. Under $100 and below its usual price; last year it fell to about $76.
3.The original Vertuo with a big 54 oz tank. Nearly 40% below what it usually sells for and close to its lowest price of the past year.
4.One-touch lattes and cappuccinos on a Vertuo machine. About 16% under its usual price; last year's low was about $292.
5.A tiny espresso machine that takes cheaper Original capsules. At its usual price now; it fell to about $149 in January.
6.The least expensive one-touch cappuccino machine in the range, on Original capsules. A little under its usual price; last year's low was about $260.
7.Original espresso with a sturdier build and a bigger tank than the Essenza Mini. Slightly under its usual price; it hit about $238 in March.

#1Best overall
Nespresso Vertuo Up by De'Longhi
by Nespresso
The Vertuo Up is the newest Vertuo and the one we would buy for most kitchens. It brews the full Vertuo range, from a single espresso to a mug of coffee, and adds two things the Pop+ lacks: a dedicated Over Ice mode and a settings button on the machine itself. Tom's Guide found it easy to use, T3 said it makes iced coffee easy, and Brew Coffee Home called the settings button a big improvement over the Pop's single button. Some options still live in the app, and the machine is new to Amazon this year, so its long-term record is thin.
The VertuoPlus, the usual top pick in other roundups, was only available from third-party sellers when we checked, at a higher price than this. The Up is about $193, roughly $10 under its 90-day average. It touched about $159 at the start of October, and that is the price to watch for.
Pros
- +Dedicated Over Ice mode for iced coffee
- +Settings button on the machine as well as the main brew button
- +Brews every Vertuo size from a single espresso to a mug
- +App control for cup size and brew settings
Cons
- −Some settings are only reachable in the app
- −A few owners say the coffee is not hot enough
- −New model with a short track record
- System
- Vertuo
- Drinks
- Espresso to mug, plus Over Ice
- Milk

#2Best budget
Nespresso Vertuo Pop+ by De'Longhi
by Nespresso
The Pop+ is the cheapest way into Vertuo, and it takes the same capsules as every other Vertuo on this page. One button brews five cup sizes, hot or iced, and Tom's Guide found its coffee good for the money after a week of testing. The compromises come from its size: the 37 oz tank needs refilling often, there is no carafe setting, and tall travel mugs only fit with the drip tray removed. A minority of owners report machines that failed early, so keep the box until the return window closes.
At $99 it is about $14 under its 90-day average. On the Sunday after Thanksgiving last year it fell to about $76, its lowest of the past year, so today's price is fair but not the floor. If you want a bigger tank for a little more, see the original Vertuo below.
Pros
- +Same Vertuo capsule range as the pricier models
- +Five cup sizes, hot or iced
- +One-button brewing
- +Small footprint
Cons
- −Small 37 oz water tank
- −No carafe size
- −Drip tray has to come out for tall mugs
- −Some owners report machines failing early
- System
- Vertuo
- Drinks
- Espresso to mug, hot or iced
- Milk

#3
Nespresso Vertuo by Breville
by Nespresso
The original Vertuo is the oldest design here, with a manual lid and a control panel BestReviews found a little confusing during setup. It earns its place on price and capacity. The 54 oz tank is about half again as large as the Pop+'s, which means fewer trips to the sink in a house where two people drink several mugs a day. It reads the barcode on each capsule and sets the brew itself, just like the newer models, and BestReviews named it its pick for iced coffee.
This is the clearest deal on the page right now. At about $131 it is nearly 40% below its 90-day average of about $213, and within $7 of its lowest price of the past year. If you would rather have the newer machine with an Over Ice button, the Vertuo Up costs about $60 more.
Pros
- +Large 54 oz water tank
- +Reads each capsule's barcode and sets the brew itself
- +Same Vertuo capsule range as newer models
Cons
- −Oldest Vertuo design, with a manual lid
- −Control panel confused some testers during setup
- System
- Vertuo
- Drinks
- Espresso to mug
- Milk
- None built in

#4
Nespresso Vertuo Lattissima by De'Longhi
by Nespresso
The Vertuo Lattissima is for anyone who drinks lattes or cappuccinos most mornings and does not want a separate frother on the counter. The milk carafe attaches to the machine and makes the drink at one touch. Expert Reviews praised the froth, and Tom's Guide went further and made it the top pick in its guide to Nespresso machines. The downside is upkeep: the water tank and used-capsule bin are small, so you will empty and refill more often than on the Pop+ or the original Vertuo. If you only have milk in your coffee now and then, a Pop+ and a separate frother cost far less.
Just under $400, it is about 16% below its 90-day average of about $475. Its low over the past year was about $292, on the Sunday after Thanksgiving.
Pros
- +Built-in milk carafe for one-touch milk drinks
- +Vertuo coffee from a single espresso to a mug
- +Froth that Expert Reviews praised
Cons
- −Small water tank and capsule bin need frequent attention
- −Some owners report setup problems
- −Isolated reports of frother failures
- System
- Vertuo
- Drinks
- Espresso to mug, plus milk drinks
- Milk
- Built-in milk carafe

#5
Nespresso Essenza Mini by Breville
by Nespresso
The Essenza Mini is the Nespresso for espresso drinkers: two buttons, espresso or lungo, and a body small enough to sit beside a toaster. It runs on Original capsules, which many brands make, so each cup costs less than on a Vertuo. Tom's Guide found it quick and consistent. The 20 oz tank is small, the used-capsule bin feels flimsy, there is no descaling reminder, and some owners find the coffee not quite hot enough. It cannot make a mug of American-style coffee; if that is what you drink, choose a Vertuo.
It is not discounted. At about $180 it matches its 90-day average, and its lowest price of the past year was about $149, in January.
Pros
- +Small enough for the most cramped counter
- +Quick, consistent shots in testing
- +Takes Original capsules from many brands
Cons
- −Small 20 oz water tank
- −Espresso and lungo only
- −No descaling reminder
- −Some owners find the coffee not hot enough
- System
- Original
- Drinks
- Espresso and lungo
- Milk
- None built in

#6
Nespresso Lattissima One by De'Longhi
by Nespresso
The Lattissima One is the least expensive way to get a one-touch cappuccino from Nespresso, and it runs on the cheaper Original capsules. A small milk jug sits on the front and froths for one drink at a time, and TechRadar liked how compact and easy to clean the whole machine is. The limits are real: you cannot adjust the milk texture, there is no setting to froth milk on its own, and some owners report problems with the frother. If you want milk drinks in mug sizes, the Vertuo Lattissima above is the better fit.
At about $322 it is roughly $27 under its 90-day average. It fell to about $260 the week before Thanksgiving last year.
Pros
- +One-touch cappuccino and latte with no separate frother
- +Original capsules cost less per cup than Vertuo
- +Compact and easy to clean
Cons
- −Milk jug holds enough for one drink at a time
- −Milk texture is not adjustable
- −Cannot froth milk on its own
- −Some owners report frothing problems
- System
- Original
- Drinks
- Espresso, lungo and milk drinks
- Milk
- Single-serve milk jug

#7
Nespresso CitiZ by De'Longhi
by Nespresso
The CitiZ makes the same espresso and lungo as the Essenza Mini, in a sturdier body that holds more water. Tom's Guide praised its balanced extraction and build quality, and Trusted Reviews pointed out how large the tank is for such a small footprint. Owners find it noisy while brewing, it heats a little more slowly than a Vertuo, and its two buttons are as basic as controls get. If counter space matters more than looks and build, the Essenza Mini does the same job for less.
At about $280 it is about $14 under its 90-day average, a small saving. Its lowest price of the past year was about $238, in March.
Pros
- +Balanced extraction in Tom's Guide testing
- +Solid build quality
- +Large water tank on a small footprint
Cons
- −Noisy while brewing, according to owners
- −Heats more slowly than a Vertuo
- −Only two buttons
- System

- Espresso and lungo
- Milk
- None built in

#8Best premium
Nespresso Vertuo Creatista by Breville
by Nespresso
The Vertuo Creatista puts Breville's automatic steam wand on a Vertuo machine, so you get mug-size coffee and milk textured to the temperature and foam level you choose. Expert Reviews called it the most premium pod machine it knew of and found the frothing quick and quiet. The case against it is cost and size: Tom's Guide noted that the same money buys equipment that brews better coffee, and it takes far more counter space than anything else here. It also starts frothing only once the coffee is done. If you are spending this much, our espresso machine deals cover machines that grind fresh beans.
It is not on sale. At about $689 it is above its 90-day average of about $655, but it fell to about $419 in mid-November last year, which is why it belongs on a Black Friday list. We would wait for a cut.
Pros
- +Automatic steam wand with adjustable temperature and texture
- +Quick, quiet frothing in Expert Reviews testing
- +Six cup sizes, hot or iced
Cons
- −Takes up a lot of counter space
- −Froths only after the coffee has finished brewing
- −Vertuo capsules only
- System
- Vertuo
- Drinks
- Espresso to mug, plus milk drinks
- Milk
- Automatic steam wand
- Built by
- Breville

How to choose a Nespresso machine this Black Friday
Pick the capsule system first. Vertuo machines make everything from an espresso to a mug of coffee and suit most American coffee drinkers. Original machines make espresso and lungo only, but they take capsules from many brands, so each cup costs less. The two systems do not share capsules.
Decide how you take milk. If you drink lattes most days, a built-in milk system (Vertuo Lattissima, Lattissima One or Vertuo Creatista) saves a step every morning. If milk is an occasional treat, a cheaper machine and a separate frother cost less than any of them.
Do not pay extra for Breville or De'Longhi. Both companies build Nespresso machines under license, and the same model from either maker brews the same way. Buy whichever version is cheaper on the day.
Ignore the list price. Amazon shows a list price of $319 on the CitiZ, but it has sold for about $294 over the past three months, so the real saving is about a third of what the struck-through price suggests. Use the 90-day averages and yearly lows we quote in each pick as your guide.
Keep the box. In past years Amazon has extended its holiday return window so that most items bought in November and December can go back until January 31. Check the date on your order and use the machine daily in the first few weeks, so a faulty unit goes back in time.
How we chose these nespresso deals
Every deal on this page was selected and checked by Ed Hollinghurst. We start from products with a strong track record in independent reviews and owner feedback, then compare the current Black Friday price against the product's typical selling price over the past months, not just the inflated list price. A deal only makes the cut if the product is genuinely good and the discount is real.
