Best Tool Chest Black Friday Deals 2026

Tool chest deals from Craftsman, WEN, Seville Classics and Goplus on Amazon, each checked against what it actually sold for recently, not its list price.

By Ed HollinghurstUpdated October 29, 2026

Tool chests do get cheaper around the holidays, though not only on Black Friday. Last year the Goplus 3-in-1 fell to about $176 the week before Thanksgiving, while three of our Craftsman and WEN Picks hit their lowest prices of the year in January. A month out, only the Craftsman 41-inch cabinet is below its recent average. Husky, Kobalt and U.S. General are missing because they are store brands sold at Home Depot, Lowe's and Harbor Freight.

We checked every price against what each chest sold for on Amazon over the past 90 days and its lowest price of the past year, not the list price. Where a Pick is sold by a third-party seller, its write-up says so.

Our picks at a glance

8 deals
  1. 1.

A matched steel top chest and rolling cabinet in one box, ideal as a first garage chest. Not discounted yet; it sold for less in March.

  2. 2.

A heavier double-wall top chest for a bench or an existing cabinet. A third-party seller has it well above its January low; we would wait.

  3. 3.

The biggest cabinet here: nine soft-close drawers across 52 inches. At its usual price, which has barely moved all year.

  4. 4.

A lockable steel cabinet with a solid wood worktop and the best owner rating here. At its usual price from a third-party seller.

  5. 5.

The cheapest steel drawer chest we would buy, and it splits into three pieces. It fell about $44 lower the week before Thanksgiving last year.

  6. 6.

The best-built cabinet we found on Amazon, with an I-frame and soft-close slides. About $30 under its recent average, far above its January low.

  7. 7.

A weather-resistant rolling chest for a truck, shed or jobsite, with 4.7 stars. At its usual price; it sold for about $10 less a year ago.

  8. 8.

A padded rolling seat with drawers for brake jobs and tire rotations. It has sold at this price since May and is not discounted.

Craftsman CMST82763BK 26-Inch 5-Drawer Tool Chest Combo

by Craftsman

The CMST82763BK is the chest most readers picture: a lidded top chest on a rolling cabinet, sold together, from a brand with US support. This Old House picked it for its keyed lock and the liner roll in the box, and it has 745 Amazon ratings, more than any other Craftsman chest we considered. It suits a homeowner or weekend mechanic buying a first garage chest.

The thin bottom panel and light casters mean it is not the cabinet for a full professional socket collection; the WEN and Craftsman 41-inch cabinets below are built for heavier loads. Expect sharp sheet-metal edges during assembly.

At $288 from Amazon it costs exactly its 90-day average. It sold for about $269 in March, so we would wait for Black Friday week.

Pros

  • Top chest and rolling cabinet sold together
  • Keyed lock and a drawer liner roll included
  • Rated to hold 300 lb
  • 745 Amazon ratings, more than any other Craftsman chest we considered

Cons

  • Thin bottom panel
  • Light casters for a fully loaded chest
  • Sharp sheet-metal edges and fiddly assembly

Craftsman S2000 26-Inch 5-Drawer Tool Chest (CMST98263RB)

by Craftsman

Bob Vila tested 11 chests and called this S2000 top chest the best value, citing its double-wall steel, smooth drawers and 650 lb rating. Set it on a workbench or a cabinet you already own. It is the step up from the combo above for readers who want a heavier box and do not need the rolling base.

At 72 lb empty, it takes two people to lift onto a cabinet, and Bob Vila's sample arrived with a slightly misaligned lid.

The price is the problem right now. Amazon was not selling it when we checked, and the lowest third-party price, about $449, is around $30 over its 90-day average and roughly $150 above the $299 it sold for in January. Bob Vila's value verdict does not hold at this price, so we would hold off until it comes back down.

Pros

  • Double-wall steel, 18 to 20 gauge
  • Smooth drawers in Bob Vila's hands-on test
  • Rated to hold 650 lb
  • Sits on a workbench or on top of a cabinet

Cons

  • Heavy at 72 lb empty
  • Bob Vila's sample arrived with a slightly misaligned lid
  • Low drawers are awkward if it sits on the floor

WEN GG532B 52-Inch Rolling Tool Cabinet

by WEN

The GG532B is the biggest cabinet here and the one for readers who have outgrown a 26-inch combo. It has nine soft-close drawers across 52 inches of 21-gauge steel, each rated to 100 lb, on casters rated to 1,500 lb, and WEN backs it for two years. It suits a garage with a free wall and a tool collection that already overflows a smaller chest.

It weighs 212 lb, so plan the spot before it arrives. We found no independent hands-on test, it has only 39 Amazon ratings, and some owners report a bent lid on delivery, so inspect it as soon as it lands.

At about $658 from Amazon it sits at its 90-day average. Its lowest price of the past year was only about $18 less, in January, so this is a cabinet whose price barely moves.

Pros

  • Nine soft-close drawers rated to 100 lb each
  • Casters rated to 1,500 lb
  • 21-gauge powder-coated steel
  • Two-year warranty

Cons

  • 212 lb and 52 inches wide
  • Some units arrive with a bent lid
  • Few owner reviews and no independent test

#4

Seville Classics UltraHD Rolling Workbench Cabinet (UHD20205B)

by Seville Classics

The UltraHD puts a solid wood top on a lockable steel cabinet, so it works as a workbench and storage at once. This Old House chose a six-drawer sibling from the same line as its best worktop, and this four-drawer, one-door model has 4.5 stars from more than 1,100 Amazon ratings, the strongest owner signal of any steel Pick here. It suits a hobby bench or a small garage that needs a work surface on wheels.

Owners say assembly takes hours, and a few report holes drilled in the wrong place on the top. The slides are not soft-close; the WEN is the one to buy if that matters to you.

A third-party seller had it at about $510 when we checked, the same as its 90-day average. It sold for about $445 a year ago.

Pros

  • Solid wood top doubles as a workbench
  • Lockable steel cabinet under the worktop
  • 4.5 stars from more than 1,100 Amazon ratings
  • Rolls easily, owners say

Cons

  • Assembly takes hours
  • Drawer slides are not soft-close
  • Some owners report misdrilled holes in the top

#5

Goplus 3-in-1 6-Drawer Rolling Tool Chest

by Goplus

The Goplus is the cheapest steel drawer chest we would buy. Bob Vila tested it and named it the best stackable chest: the top box lifts off as a carry case, the middle riser adds storage, and the base rolls on its own. The drawers lock automatically when shut, and liners come in the box. It suits a small garage or someone building a first set of tools.

Bob Vila found the steel thinner than on the Craftsman chests and the instructions unclear, and some owners report a missing key or hardware, so check the parts list before you start.

Amazon was not selling it when we checked; a third-party seller had it at about $220, in line with its 90-day average. Last year it fell to about $176 the week before Thanksgiving, which makes a fair target for this year.

Pros

  • Splits into a carry box, riser and rolling base
  • Drawers lock automatically when shut
  • Drawer liners included
  • Lockable casters

Cons

  • Thinner steel than the Craftsman chests
  • Unclear assembly instructions
  • Some owners report a missing key or hardware

#6Best premium

Craftsman S2000 41-Inch 10-Drawer Rolling Tool Cabinet (CMST341102RB)

by Craftsman

This is the most expensive Pick and it is 11 inches narrower than the WEN, so the case for it is build, not size. The S2000 cabinet sits on a steel I-frame, its ten drawers run on full-extension soft-close slides rated to 100 lb, and Craftsman assembles it in the USA from global materials. Drawer trays, a top mat and a paper towel holder come with it. It suits someone who plans to load every drawer with heavy tools and keep the cabinet for a long time.

We found no independent test, and it has only 29 Amazon ratings, so our case rests on the spec sheet and on retailer owner reviews that call it sturdy.

At $754 from Amazon it is about $30 under its 90-day average, the only Pick below its recent price when we checked. It sold for $579 in mid-January, and that is the price to beat.

Pros

  • Steel I-frame for a stiffer cabinet
  • Full-extension soft-close slides rated to 100 lb
  • Drawer trays, top mat and paper towel holder included
  • Made in the USA with global materials

Cons

  • Only 29 Amazon ratings and no independent test
  • Needs about 41 inches of clear wall

Craftsman VERSASTACK 30-Gallon Rolling Tool Chest (CMST17870)

by Craftsman

The VERSASTACK is the cheapest Pick and the one for places a steel chest does not belong: a truck bed, a damp shed or a jobsite. It is IP54 rated against dust and splashing water, its metal latches resist rust, and Amazon owners give it 4.7 stars from more than 400 ratings, with Lowe's owners close behind. It is not a drawer chest, so loose sockets and bits need their own organizers.

The small wheels struggle on gravel and rough ground, so expect to carry it over the last stretch on some sites.

At about $80 from Amazon it matches its 90-day average, and it sold for about $70 a year ago.

Pros

  • IP54 rated against dust and splashing water
  • Metal latches that resist rust
  • 4.7 stars from more than 400 Amazon ratings
  • Rolls to a truck, shed or jobsite

Cons

  • Plastic body, not steel
  • No drawers for sorting small tools
  • Small wheels for rough ground

WEN GG1350 Garage Glider Rolling Tool Chest Seat

by WEN

The Garage Glider is for DIY mechanics who spend time at wheel height on brake jobs and tire rotations. It is a padded rolling seat rated to 350 lb with drawers underneath, 16 tool slots and two magnetic trays, so sockets stay within reach. Bob Vila tested it, named it the best seat-style chest and found the casters smooth.

The drawers are shallow and total storage is small, so it supplements a chest like the Craftsman combo rather than replacing one. The 16-inch seat may feel low for taller users.

At about $83 from Amazon it costs what it has sold for since May and has not been cheaper in the past year. That makes this its usual price, not a discount.

Pros

  • Padded seat rated to 350 lb
  • Smooth casters in Bob Vila's hands-on test
  • 16 tool slots and two magnetic trays
  • Keeps sockets within reach at wheel height

Cons

  • Shallow drawers
  • 16-inch seat may feel low for taller users
  • Small total storage

How to choose a tool chest this Black Friday

Pick the shape before the brand. A combo like the Craftsman CMST82763BK suits a first chest. A top chest like the S2000 26-inch suits a bench or cabinet you already own. A rolling cabinet like the WEN or the Craftsman 41-inch gives the most storage and a flat top to work on.

Measure the wall and the doorway. The steel Picks here run from 26 to 52 inches wide, and the WEN weighs 212 lb before you load it. Leave room to open drawers fully and to roll the cabinet out from the wall.

Check the steel gauge and the slides. A lower gauge number means thicker steel. Ball-bearing slides rated to about 100 lb per drawer handle sockets and power tools; soft-close and full extension are worth paying for if you open drawers dozens of times a day.

Ignore the list price. The struck-through price on a listing is often a number nobody has paid in months. Judge a deal by what the chest sold for over the past 90 days and by its 12-month low, which we quote in every Pick. For three Picks here, that low came in January, not on Black Friday.

Check the seller and inspect on delivery. Three Picks were sold by third-party sellers when we checked. Chests this heavy sometimes arrive with bent lids or dented panels, so open the box as soon as it arrives and confirm the return date on your Amazon order page.

Tool Chest Black Friday FAQ

When do tool chest Black Friday deals start, and are prices good yet?

Black Friday is November 27 and Cyber Monday is November 30 this year. When we checked in late October, only the Craftsman S2000 41-inch cabinet was below its 90-day average, and only by about $30. Last year the Goplus 3-in-1 hit its lowest price the week before Thanksgiving, so watch from mid-November.

Is Black Friday the cheapest time to buy a tool chest?

Not always. Over the past year the Craftsman S2000 top chest, the Craftsman S2000 41-inch cabinet and the WEN 52-inch cabinet all sold for their lowest prices in January, after the holidays. A Black Friday price has to beat those January lows to be the best time to buy, so compare it with the 12-month low we quote in each Pick.

Why aren't Husky, Kobalt or U.S. General tool chests on this list?

They are store brands. Husky is sold through Home Depot, Kobalt through Lowe's and U.S. General through Harbor Freight. Husky's Amazon listings come from third-party resellers, and we found no Kobalt or U.S. General chests on Amazon. This Article covers Amazon only, so our Picks come from Craftsman, WEN, Seville Classics and Goplus.

What steel gauge and drawer slides should I look for?

Look for 18 to 21 gauge steel and ball-bearing slides rated to about 100 lb per drawer. A lower gauge number means thicker steel, so the 18 to 20 gauge Craftsman S2000 chest is heavier-walled than the 21-gauge WEN cabinet. Full-extension slides let you reach the back of the drawer, and soft-close slides stop heavy drawers from slamming.

Should I buy a top chest, a rolling cabinet or a combo?

Buy a combo like the Craftsman CMST82763BK if you are starting from nothing, since the chest and cabinet match. Buy a top chest like the Craftsman S2000 26-inch if you already have a bench or cabinet to set it on. Buy a rolling cabinet like the WEN 52-inch or the Craftsman 41-inch if you want the most storage at one height and a flat top to work on.

How much assembly do these tool chests need?

Expect some, and allow an afternoon for the bigger Picks. Owners say the Seville Classics takes hours, This Old House found the Craftsman combo fiddly, and Bob Vila found the Goplus instructions unclear. The WEN 52-inch cabinet weighs 212 lb, so have a second person on hand to move it into place.

How we chose these tool chest deals

Every deal on this page was selected and checked by Ed Hollinghurst. We start from products with a strong track record in independent reviews and owner feedback, then compare the current Black Friday price against the product's typical selling price over the past months, not just the inflated list price. A deal only makes the cut if the product is genuinely good and the discount is real.
