Brand-name jewelry does get real discounts on Amazon around Thanksgiving. Last year the Kendra Scott Elisa pendant fell to about $36 on Thanksgiving night and The Pearl Source pearl studs to about $71 the week before. When we checked in late October, most of our Picks were at or near their usual prices, so there is room for them to fall.
We checked every price against what each piece sold for on Amazon over the past 90 days and its lowest price of the past year, not the list price. Prices are for the color, size or length named on each card; other options on the same listing can cost more or less.
Our picks at a glance
8 deals1.The starter charm bracelet in solid sterling silver, a gift that grows with every charm. At its usual price; it sold for about $50 in March.
2.The small stone pendant gift recipients recognize on sight. Above its usual price now; it fell to about $36 over Thanksgiving last year.
3.The everyday gold hoop with sterling silver posts, under $20. Not discounted; it sold for about $15 in August.
4.The flat, liquid-looking chain of the last few seasons, on Italian sterling silver. A few dollars under its usual price.
5.Real cultured pearls on solid 14K gold posts, the classic first fine-jewelry gift. A few dollars under usual; last November it fell to about $71.
6.Our pick for men: a solid sterling Cuban chain made in Italy. About $8 under its usual price; it was about $40 a year ago.
7.The showpiece sparkle gift, with crystals around the whole band. At its usual price; it sold for about $93 in September.
8.The simplest Swarovski gift: one clear round crystal per ear. Above its usual price now; it sold for about $33 in September.

Pandora Moments Snake Chain Bracelet (7.1")
by Pandora
The Pandora snake chain is the gift we would point most buyers to first. It is solid sterling silver, so there is no plating to rub off, and it is the base for Pandora's Moments charms, which makes it easy to add to on every birthday after. PureWow, reviewing the same chain with a heart clasp, found it sturdy and a good fit once sized properly.
Skip it if the recipient does not like charm jewelry, or if you cannot find out their wrist size: the 7.1-inch bracelet suits a wrist of about 6.3 inches.
At about $63 from a third-party seller, it is at its usual price, and it sold for about $50 in March. We would hold out for a Black Friday price under $55.
Pros
- +Solid sterling silver, so there is no plating to wear off
- +Takes Pandora Moments charms, so it can be added to for years
- +Snake chain holds its shape and feels sturdy
Cons
- −Barrel clasp is fiddly to open
- −Plain on its own; charms are sold separately
- −Easy to buy the wrong size
- −Sterling darkens without an occasional polish
- Type
- Charm bracelet
- Metal
- Sterling silver
- Stones
- None
- Option priced
- 7.1 in (18 cm)

Kendra Scott Elisa Pendant Necklace
by Kendra Scott
The Elisa is the Kendra Scott piece most people have seen: a small oval stone on a fine chain, plain enough to wear every day. Katie Couric Media called it simple and eye-catching and pointed to the range of stones and metals it comes in. It is the brand-name gift for someone who wears gold.
Skip it if the recipient wears jewelry in the shower or at the gym. The chain is plated brass, and owners on other retailers' sites report it dulling or turning green with water and sweat. The Pandora above is the sturdier choice.
This one is a wait. At $60 from a third-party seller it costs about $6 more than its 90-day average, and it sold for about $36 on Thanksgiving night last year.
Pros
- +Small oval stone that works with everyday clothes
- +Offered in dozens of stone and metal combinations
- +Extender lets the wearer adjust the length
- +A brand name many gift recipients know
Cons
- −Plated brass chain can dull or discolor with sweat and water
- −Short 15-inch chain sits high on the neck without the extender
- Type
- Pendant necklace
- Metal
- 14K gold-plated brass
- Stones
- Rose quartz
- Option priced
- Gold, rose quartz

PAVOI 14K Gold Plated Lightweight Hoops (20mm)
by PAVOI
Pavoi is the Amazon jewelry brand that shows up in nearly every roundup, and these 20mm hoops are its everyday staple. JCK, the jewelry trade magazine, put Pavoi pieces next to fine jewelry and found them hard to tell apart at a glance, while noting they are plated rather than solid gold. The sterling silver posts make them a reasonable try for ears that react to cheap earrings.
Skip them if you want something that will look new in five years; the plating wears with daily wear and water, and solid gold hoops cost several times more.
They are not discounted. At about $19 from a third-party seller they are a dollar above their usual price, and they sold for about $15 in August.
Pros
- +Sterling silver posts suit many sensitive ears
- +Light enough to wear all day
- +Looks close to fine jewelry at arm's length
- +A 20mm size that goes with almost anything
Cons
- −Gold plating wears with daily wear and water
- −Post material differs between sizes on the same listing
- Type
- Hoop earrings
- Metal
- 14K gold plating, sterling silver posts
- Stones
- None
- Option priced
- Yellow gold, 20mm

#4
Miabella 4.5mm Flat Herringbone Necklace
by Miabella
Herringbone has been the chain to own for the past few seasons, and Miabella's version is the one we would buy on Amazon: gold-plated sterling silver, made in Italy, at a fraction of what solid gold herringbone costs. Katie Couric Media found a Miabella Byzantine bracelet well made, and PureWow said a Miabella link bracelet resisted tarnish and looked high-end.
Skip it if the wearer tends to toss necklaces in a drawer. Flat herringbone kinks when it is coiled or bunched, and a kink is hard to undo. Store it flat. For a rounder, sturdier chain, see the Miabella Cuban link below.
At about $75 from a third-party seller it is a few dollars under its 90-day average, but it sold for about $58 a year ago.
Pros
- +Sterling silver base, made in Italy
- +Flat links lie smooth against the skin
- +Reads as a statement chain with no pendant needed
Cons
- −Herringbone kinks if it is stored coiled or bunched
- −Gold plating can turn cloudy with daily wear
- −Some owners report a dull finish on arrival
- Type
- Chain necklace
- Metal
- 18K gold-plated sterling silver
- Stones
- None
- Option priced
- Yellow gold, 4.5mm, 18 in

#5Best premium
The Pearl Source Freshwater Pearl Stud Earrings
by The Pearl Source
Pearl studs are the classic first piece of real jewelry, and these are real cultured freshwater pearls on solid 14K white gold posts, which makes them our premium pick. The Pearl Source is a pearl specialist with its own Amazon store, and PureWow rated the brand's pearl necklace above the faux pearls it tried.
Skip them if the recipient prefers bold jewelry. Some owners find 6mm pearls smaller than they expected, and the AAA grade is the seller's own scale, not an industry standard.
At $130 from a third-party seller they are a few dollars under their 90-day average. Last year they fell to about $71 on November 20, the widest dollar gap between the current price and the 12-month low of any Pick, so we would wait.
Pros
- +Genuine cultured freshwater pearls
- +Solid 14K white gold posts
- +Classic studs that suit any age and outfit
- +From an established pearl specialist
Cons
- −6mm pearls look small on some ears
- −AAA is the seller's own grading scale, not an industry standard
- Type
- Stud earrings
- Metal
- Solid 14K white gold
- Stones
- Freshwater cultured pearls
- Option priced
- 6 to 6.5mm, white gold

#6
Miabella 5mm Cuban Link Chain
by Miabella
This is our pick for men, or for anyone who wants a bolder chain than the herringbone. It is solid sterling silver throughout, made in Italy, with diamond-cut links that catch the light. A 5mm width reads as a real chain without the weight of a chunky Cuban link. Its 4.3-star rating across more than 13,000 Amazon ratings is lower than most Picks here, and tarnish is the complaint we saw most.
Skip it for a smaller frame: 24 inches hangs mid-chest, and sterling needs a wipe with a polishing cloth now and then.
At about $60 from a third-party seller it is about $8 under its 90-day average, the biggest current gap of any Pick. It sold for about $40 a year ago.
Pros
- +Solid sterling silver, made in Italy
- +Diamond-cut links catch the light
- +5mm width is noticeable without being heavy
Cons
- −Sterling tarnishes unless it is wiped down
- −24 inches hangs low on smaller frames
- Type
- Chain necklace
- Metal
- Sterling silver
- Stones
- None
- Option priced
- 5mm, 24 in

#7
Swarovski Una Angelic Tennis Bracelet
by Swarovski
The Una Angelic is the sparkle gift: crystals line the whole band, which PureWow said made it look more expensive than it is. Reader's Digest named a Swarovski tennis bracelet its luxury jewelry pick. Amazon sells this one itself, which removes most doubts about authenticity.
Skip it if you want precious metal; the setting is rhodium-plated, and the crystals are not diamonds. Some owners also felt the sparkle was lower than they expected for the price. The Pearl Source studs cost about the same and put real pearls on solid gold posts.
Ignore the $219 list price. At about $130 it is at its usual price on Amazon, and it sold for about $93 in September. We would wait for something closer to $100.
Pros
- +Crystals run the full length of the band
- +Reads as fine jewelry from across a room
- +The best-known name in crystal for a gift box
Cons
- −Some owners find the sparkle lower than they expected
- −Plated setting rather than a precious metal
- Type
- Tennis bracelet
- Metal
- Rhodium-plated setting
- Stones
- White crystals
- Option priced
- White crystals, rhodium

#8
Swarovski Attract Stud Earrings
by Swarovski
The Attract studs are the simplest way to give Swarovski: one round clear crystal per ear, small enough for the office and bright enough for an evening out. PureWow found the backs secure and the sparkle subtle. Amazon sells them itself.
Skip them if you want a statement piece or precious metal. The stones are small and the setting is plated. The Pavoi hoops make more of a statement for less money, and the Pearl Source studs put real pearls on solid gold posts.
There is no deal here. At $69 they are about $9 above their 90-day average, and they sold for about $33 in September, so we would not buy at this price.
Pros
- +Small sparkle that works for day or evening
- +Earring backs hold securely
- +Easy to wear every day
Cons
- −Small stone, so the effect is understated
- −Plated setting rather than a precious metal
- Type
- Stud earrings
- Metal
- Rhodium-plated setting
- Stones
- Round-cut clear crystal
- Option priced
- Clear crystal, rhodium

How to choose jewelry this Black Friday
Decide between plated and solid metal first. Plated pieces like the Kendra Scott pendant and Pavoi hoops look like gold for less, but the plating wears through with daily wear. Sterling silver (the Pandora bracelet and the Cuban chain) and solid gold (the Pearl Source posts) last for years with basic care.
Buy for the wearer's ears and skin. If someone reacts to cheap earrings, choose sterling silver or solid gold posts and avoid plated brass against the skin. Nickel is the usual cause.
Get the size right before you order. Bracelets need a wrist measurement, and necklace length changes how a piece sits: 16 inches at the collarbone, 18 inches just below, 24 inches mid-chest. The price on each card is for the option named there, and other options on the same listing are priced separately.
Ignore the list price. The Swarovski Una Angelic shows a $219 list price but averaged about $129 over the past 90 days. Judge a deal by the 90-day average and the 12-month low, which we quote in every Pick. Several Picks sold for far less at some point in the past year.
Check the seller and the return date. Six of our eight Picks were sold by third-party sellers when we checked, so confirm the seller before you order a brand-name piece. Amazon usually extends returns over the holidays; check the date on your order page in case a length or size is wrong.
How we chose these jewelry deals
Every deal on this page was selected and checked by Ed Hollinghurst. We start from products with a strong track record in independent reviews and owner feedback, then compare the current Black Friday price against the product's typical selling price over the past months, not just the inflated list price. A deal only makes the cut if the product is genuinely good and the discount is real.
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon.com at the time of purchase will apply to the purchase of this product.
