Pokémon cards are hard to buy well on Black Friday, because sealed boxes rarely get a true discount and Amazon often runs out. The deal worth having is a box at Amazon's own price instead of a reseller's. The clearest example when we checked: the 30th Celebration Elite Trainer Box, sold by Amazon at its lowest price of the past year and about half its 90-day typical price.
We compared every price with what each box sold for on Amazon over the past 90 days and its lowest price of the past year, not the list price. Where a Pick is not discounted, or is sold by a third-party seller, its Pick says so.
Our picks at a glance
7 deals1.The all-foil anniversary set, with far better pull odds than a normal set, sold by Amazon at its lowest price of the past year.
2.Six packs of the newest main set for card openers, sold by Amazon. Not discounted; it sold for about $32 in August.
3.Six packs from the Mega Greninja ex set, sold by Amazon. About $5 over its 90-day typical price right now.
4.Nine packs plus the sleeves, Energy and dice a new player needs. From a third-party seller, well above its April low.
5.The cheapest Pick here: six packs of the Perfect Order set at about its usual price, from a third-party seller.
6.The Elite Trainer Box for July's Pitch Black set, with a Zarude promo. A few dollars over its usual price, from a third-party seller.
7.The Mega Greninja ex set in its full gift box with a Fennekin promo. It fell under $58 in mid-October, so we would wait.
Our picks
#1Best overall
Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration Elite Trainer Box
by Pokémon
The anniversary set is the one most collectors will ask for this year, and it is also the best buy on the list. Every card is foil, and TCGplayer's pull data puts an Illustration Rare in about one pack in five and a Special Illustration Rare in about one in 21, far better odds than a normal set. Screen Rant called the box well worth its official price and liked the sleeves and foil Energy, though its reviewer found the Nidorina promo a letdown.
Know that the packs hold five cards, not ten, so the box feels lighter to open. It suits collectors and gift buyers more than players building a deck.
At just under $60 from Amazon, it matches its lowest price of the past year and costs about half what it has averaged over the past 90 days. Ignore the much higher list price shown above; the 90-day figure is the one that matters.
Pros
- +Every card in the set is foil
- +Illustration Rare odds of about one in five packs
- +Thirty Pikachu variants to chase
- +Sleeves and foil Energy cards worth keeping
Cons
- −Packs hold 5 cards instead of the usual 10
- −The Nidorina promo is a dull choice for an anniversary
- Booster packs
- 9
- Cards per pack
- 5
- Promo card
- Nidorina (full art)
- Accessories
- 65 sleeves, 16 foil Energy
- Set released

#2
Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution Pitch Black Booster Bundle
by Pokémon
Pitch Black is the most recent main set until Delta Reign arrives on November 6, and the booster bundle is the cheapest way to open a meaningful number of its packs. Rare Candy and Siliconera both point to the Mega Darkrai ex Special Illustration Rare and the gold Mega Hyper Rare as the cards to chase, and both praise the set's art. Pick this over an Elite Trainer Box if the person you are buying for already has sleeves and only wants packs.
It is not a deal right now. At a little under $48 from Amazon, it costs about $5 more than its 90-day typical price, and it sold for about $32 in early August. Amazon showed delayed shipping when we checked, so look at the delivery date if it is a gift.
Pros
- +Six packs of July's Pitch Black set
- +Mega Darkrai ex is a chase with strong art
- +Gold Mega Hyper Rare to hunt for
Cons
- −Packs only, with no sleeves, dice or Energy
- Booster packs
- 6
- Cards per pack
- 10
- Promo card

#3
Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution Chaos Rising Booster Bundle
by Pokémon
Chaos Rising is the Mega Greninja ex set, and Greninja is a long-running fan favorite. TCG Watchtower made the honest case for it: buy sealed Chaos Rising because you want to chase Greninja, not because the packs will pay for themselves. For a Greninja fan, six packs make a good stocking gift. If the recipient has no favorite, the Pitch Black bundle above is the newer set for the same money.
Amazon sells it directly at a little under $48, about $5 above its 90-day typical price, so this is not a discount either. It fell to about $32 in early August. Amazon listed delayed shipping when we checked.
Pros
- +Mega Greninja ex is the set's headline card
- +Six packs in one box
- +A good fit for a Greninja fan's stocking
Cons
- −Packs only, with no accessories
- −Hard to justify unless you want the Greninja chase
- Booster packs
- 6
- Cards per pack
- 10
- Promo card

#4
Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution Perfect Order Elite Trainer Box
by Pokémon
Perfect Order's Elite Trainer Box is the one we would hand to a new player. Alongside nine standard packs and a Tyrunt full-art promo, it carries the sleeves, Energy cards and dice needed to build and play a first deck, and Best Buy buyers describe the box as fun and well designed. As with every sealed product, pulls are luck, and some buyers came away disappointed.
The price is the problem. Amazon was not selling it when we checked; a third-party seller had it at about $88, roughly its 90-day typical price but almost $30 above the roughly $60 Amazon charged when it restocked in April. We would buy it only if it returns to Amazon's own price, and choose the 30th Celebration box above in the meantime.
Pros
- +Nine full 10-card packs
- +Sleeves, Energy and dice for a first deck
- +Tyrunt full-art promo
- +Storage box for a growing collection
Cons
- −Pulls are luck, and some buyers came away with little
- −Accessories add little for players who already own them
- Booster packs
- 9
- Cards per pack
- 10
- Promo card
- Tyrunt (full art)
- Accessories
- 65 sleeves, 40 Energy, dice
- Set released
- March 2026

#5Best budget
Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution Perfect Order Booster Bundle
by Pokémon
This is the least expensive Pick, and the best choice for someone who wants packs from the same set as our rank 4 box without paying for its accessories. Mashable's preorder coverage noted Amazon selling it under the market price.
At under $45 from a third-party seller, it sits less than a dollar under its 90-day typical price, which is no real saving, and its lowest price of the past year was about $39 in late April. Perfect Order is now two sets behind Pitch Black, so a reader who wants the newest cards should spend the extra few dollars on the Pitch Black bundle sold by Amazon.
Pros
- +Six standard 10-card packs
- +Same set as the Perfect Order Elite Trainer Box, for about half the price
- +Small enough to work as a stocking stuffer
Cons
- −Packs only, with no accessories
- −Two main sets older than Pitch Black
- Booster packs
- 6
- Cards per pack
- 10
- Promo card
- None
- Accessories
- None
- Set released

#6
Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution Pitch Black Elite Trainer Box
by Pokémon
For a gift that looks bigger under the tree, the Pitch Black Elite Trainer Box packs nine Pitch Black packs, a Zarude full-art promo, sleeves, Energy and dice into one box. It shares the Mega Darkrai ex chase with the booster bundle at rank 2.
The math is less kind. It costs about $37 more than the booster bundle for three more packs and the accessories, and a third-party seller had it at about $85 when we checked, around $5 above its 90-day typical price. It sold for about $70 in early August. Buy it if the box itself matters to the recipient; otherwise the bundle is better value.
Pros
- +Nine packs of the Mega Darkrai ex set
- +Zarude full-art promo
- +Sleeves, Energy and dice included
Cons
- −Pulls are luck, with no guaranteed hit
- −Accessories add little for players who already own them
- Booster packs
- 9
- Cards per pack
- 10
- Promo card
- Zarude (full art)
- Accessories
- Sleeves, Energy, dice

#7
Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution Chaos Rising Elite Trainer Box
by Pokémon
This is the Greninja fan's version of an Elite Trainer Box: nine Chaos Rising packs, a Fennekin full-art promo and the usual sleeves, Energy and dice. Fennekin pairs well with the set's Greninja theme, which makes it a tidier gift than the booster bundle for a younger fan.
We would wait on it. A third-party seller had it at about $87 when we checked, a few dollars above its 90-day typical price, and it dropped under $58 as recently as October 13. A price that low again would make it a strong buy; at today's price, the 30th Celebration box at rank 1 costs about $27 less and is sold by Amazon.
Pros
- +Nine packs from the Mega Greninja ex set
- +Fennekin full-art promo
- +Sleeves, Energy and dice included
Cons
- −Value depends on pulling Greninja
- −One main set older than Pitch Black
- Booster packs
- 9
- Cards per pack
- 10
- Promo card
- Fennekin (full art)
- Accessories
- Sleeves, Energy, dice
- Set released
- May 2026

How to choose Pokémon cards this Black Friday
Choose between packs and a box. A booster bundle is six packs and nothing else, which suits someone who already plays. An Elite Trainer Box adds three packs, a promo card, sleeves, Energy and dice, which suits a new player or a gift.
Pick the set by the card they want. Most buyers chase one card. Mega Darkrai ex is in Pitch Black, Mega Greninja ex is in Chaos Rising, and the 30th Celebration set is the one for Pikachu fans and collectors who want every card in foil.
Check who sells it. Pokémon listings on Amazon often switch from Amazon to third-party sellers when stock runs out, and the price usually jumps when that happens. Look at the "Sold by" line, and treat any price far above what Amazon charged recently as a markup, not a deal.
Ignore the list price. The struck-through price on many Pokémon listings is higher than anything Amazon has charged in months. Judge a price by the 90-day typical price and the 12-month low we quote in each Pick.
Mind the delivery date. Several Picks showed delayed shipping when we checked. If the box is a holiday gift, confirm the delivery estimate and the return window on your order page before you buy.
How we chose these pokémon card deals
Every deal on this page was selected and checked by Ed Hollinghurst. We start from products with a strong track record in independent reviews and owner feedback, then compare the current Black Friday price against the product's typical selling price over the past months, not just the inflated list price. A deal only makes the cut if the product is genuinely good and the discount is real.
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon.com at the time of purchase will apply to the purchase of this product.
