A month before Black Friday, Switch game prices on Amazon have hardly moved. The exception is Pokémon Legends: Z-A, about $8.50 under its 90-day average, though it sold for under $40 during Prime Big Deal Days in early October. Nintendo's own games do get cut: Tears of the Kingdom fell under $60 in June and Mario Party Jamboree sold for $59 in March, so those are the prices Black Friday has to beat.
We checked every price against what each game sold for on Amazon over the past 90 days and its lowest price of the past year, not the list price. Every Pick below was sold by Amazon when we checked.
Our picks at a glance
8 deals1.The best new Switch 2 game for most owners. At its usual price for now; it sold for about $6 less in January.
2.The game most Switch 2 households end up playing together. Amazon has not cut its price at any point in the past year.
3.The best-reviewed Pokémon game in years and the cozy pick for kids. Not discounted on Amazon since its March launch.
4.One of the best-reviewed games you can play on a Switch 2, at its sharpest and smoothest. At its usual price; it fell under $60 in June.
5.The four-player couch game for families. At its usual price now; it sold for about $20 less in March.
6.Real-time Pokémon battles that run smoothly on Switch 2. About $8.50 under its recent price, the one real discount on this list.
7.Two classic 3D Marios that run on every Switch. Above its recent price right now; it sold for under $49 in September.
8.One of the best-reviewed games of 2025 for about $50. Its Amazon price has barely moved all year.
Our picks
#1Best overall
Donkey Kong Bananza (Switch 2)
by Nintendo
Donkey Kong Bananza is the Switch 2 game we would buy first. It comes from the team behind Super Mario Odyssey, it holds a Metacritic score of 91, and Game Informer put it in its top 10 Switch 2 games, crediting the destruction for staying fun all the way to a strong finish. It also has an advantage over Mario Kart World: most Switch 2 owners do not already have it from a console bundle.
Digital Foundry found the frame rate drops when docked, most noticeably in boss fights, and the camera can get lost in narrow tunnels. Neither stopped reviewers from ranking it among Nintendo's best 3D platformers.
At $69 it costs what it has sold for over the past 90 days. Amazon had it for about $63 in January, which is the price we would hope to see again.
Pros
- +Dig your own route through almost any surface
- +Metacritic score of 91
- +Strong closing chapters
- +Two-player co-op mode
Cons
- −Frame rate dips when docked, mostly in boss fights
- −Camera struggles in tight tunnels
- −Will not run on an original Switch
- Plays on
- Switch 2 only
- Genre
- 3D platformer
- Best for
- Most Switch 2 owners

#2
Mario Kart World (Switch 2)
by Nintendo
Mario Kart World is the best-selling Switch 2 game by a wide margin, and it is the one that gets played when friends or family visit. Reviewers single out Knockout Tour, a rally mode that runs across the whole map and eliminates racers at each checkpoint. Tom's Guide was less keen on the changes to Grand Prix, and several outlets found Free Roam short on things to do.
Check your box before buying: many Switch 2 consoles were sold in a bundle with the game, and our Nintendo Switch Black Friday deals cover those. If you already have it, Donkey Kong Bananza is the better use of the money.
Amazon has not sold it below $79 at any point in the past year, so a Black Friday cut would be the first.
Pros
- +Knockout Tour rally mode is the standout
- +Up to four players on one console
- +24 racers per race
- +Easy for young kids to pick up
Cons
- −Free Roam feels empty between races
- −Slow unlocks and a clumsy character select
- −Some reviewers prefer the old Grand Prix format
- Plays on
- Switch 2 only
- Genre
- Kart racing
- Best for
- Families and groups

#3
Pokémon Pokopia (Switch 2)
by Nintendo
Pokopia is the March 2026 hit that Game Informer sees filling the Animal Crossing gap on Switch 2. You restore a world with the help of Pokémon, and Pocket Tactics found its cozy loop close to endless. With a Metacritic score of 89, it is the best-reviewed Pokémon game in years, and it is the pick here for kids who would rather build than battle.
Game Informer noted the opening campaign holds your hand for a long time, and inventory juggling and the building camera both draw complaints. Players who want Pokémon battles should look at Legends: Z-A below.
Amazon has sold it for $69 since launch with no discount so far. We would not expect a deep cut on a game this new and this popular.
Pros
- +Metacritic 89 and OpenCritic 90
- +Relaxed building and life-sim loop
- +Fills the Animal Crossing gap on Switch 2
Cons
- −Early hours lean hard on tutorials
- −Clunky inventory management
- −Building camera can be imprecise
- Plays on
- Switch 2 only
- Genre
- Life sim
- Best for
- Kids and cozy-game fans

#4Best premium
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Switch 2 Edition)
by Nintendo
Tears of the Kingdom, at Metacritic 95, is one of the best-reviewed games you can play on a Switch 2, and the Switch 2 Edition is the best way to play it. Press Start called it exactly that: this version adds a sharper image when docked, a steadier frame rate, HDR and the Zelda Notes app. The card also runs the original version on a Switch, so it works for a household with both consoles.
Skip this cartridge if you already own the 2023 game. The content is the same, and the eShop upgrade pack unlocks the improvements for much less.
At $79 it sits at its 90-day average. Amazon sold it for under $60 in late June, so a Black Friday price around there would be worth taking; anything near $79 is no saving.
Pros
- +Metacritic score of 95
- +Higher resolution, smoother frame rate and HDR on Switch 2
- +Adds the Zelda Notes companion app
- +Same card runs the original version on a Switch
Cons
- −No new story content over the 2023 game
- −Existing owners only need the cheaper upgrade pack
- −HDR needs a compatible TV
- Plays on
- Switch 2 and Switch (Switch 2 Edition)
- Genre
- Open-world adventure
- Best for
- Adventure fans

#5
Super Mario Party Jamboree + Jamboree TV (Switch 2 Edition)
by Nintendo
For four people on one couch, Mario Party Jamboree is the pick. Nintendo Life called the Switch 2 Edition a fantastic addition to an already strong party game, and the board-game mode works for mixed ages, from young kids to grandparents. The Jamboree TV extras add minigames that use the Joy-Con 2 as a mouse, and some that need a camera.
If you already own the 2024 Switch game, TechRadar and IGN both question paying again for the new extras. Mario Kart World is the stronger group game if you only buy one.
At $79 it costs what it has sold for over the past 90 days, about $20 more than its March low of $59.
Pros
- +Big board-game party mode for up to four players
- +Jamboree TV adds camera and mouse-control minigames
- +Base game runs on an original Switch
Cons
- −Jamboree TV extras feel thin if you own the 2024 game
- −Some Jamboree TV games need a separate camera
- Plays on
- Switch 2 and Switch (Jamboree TV needs Switch 2)
- Genre
- Party game
- Best for
- Four players on one couch

#6
Pokémon Legends: Z-A (Switch 2 Edition)
by Nintendo
Legends: Z-A is the one Pick here that is clearly cheaper than usual. At just under $50 from Amazon, it is about $8.50 below its 90-day average. It dropped to under $40 during Prime Big Deal Days on October 6, so Black Friday could match that, but this price is already fair.
The game swaps the turn-based menus for real-time battles, which reviewers liked, and it runs smoothly on Switch 2. Nintendo Life gave it 7 out of 10, finding that keeping the whole game inside one city takes away some of the series' sense of adventure, and the visuals look dated next to Tears of the Kingdom. The card includes the original Switch version.
Pros
- +Real-time battles replace turn-based menus
- +Smooth performance on Switch 2
- +Card includes the original Switch version
Cons
- −Visuals look dated next to Nintendo's own games
- −A single city setting loses some of the series' sense of travel
- Plays on
- Switch 2 and Switch (Switch 2 Edition)
- Genre
- Action RPG
- Best for
- Pokémon fans

#7
Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Switch)
by Nintendo
This is our pick for original Switch and Switch Lite owners: two of the best 3D Mario games on one cartridge, and it runs on every Switch. Checkpoint Gaming called it the definitive way to play both. A second player can join in with a pointer to collect items and stun enemies, which suits a parent helping a younger child.
Well Played found the pointer controls awkward in handheld mode, so Switch Lite owners should expect some fiddling. FutureFive thought it was a lot to ask for a remaster with little new beyond the storybook chapters.
Wait on this one. At $69.99 it is about $9 above its 90-day average, and Amazon sold it for under $49 in mid-September.
Pros
- +Two complete games on one cartridge
- +Runs on Switch, Switch Lite and Switch 2
- +Second player can help out with a pointer
Cons
- −Pointer controls are awkward in handheld mode
- −Little new beyond added storybook chapters
- Plays on
- Switch and Switch 2
- Genre
- 3D platformer (two games)
- Best for
- Original Switch and Lite owners

#8Best budget
Hades II (Switch 2 Edition)
by Supergiant Games
Hades II ties with Legends: Z-A as the cheapest game here, and it is among the best reviewed. Game Informer gave it 10 out of 10, and RPG Site found it runs at 120 frames per second when docked on Switch 2.
It is a roguelike: you fight, die and start again a little stronger. Players who dislike repetition should pick Donkey Kong Bananza instead. On an original Switch, Nintendo Life found longer loading and a softer image, though the game still plays well.
At about $50 it costs what it has sold for all year, within a few cents of its 12-month low. Amazon has not discounted it this year, so there is no past low to hold out for.
Pros
- +Game Informer gave it 10 out of 10
- +120 frames per second when docked on Switch 2
- +Runs on an original Switch too
Cons
- −No 120 frames per second in handheld mode
- −Longer loads and a softer image on an original Switch
- −The repeat-the-run loop is not for everyone
- Plays on
- Switch 2 and Switch (Switch 2 Edition)
- Genre
- Action roguelike
- Best for
- Action fans on a budget

How to choose Switch games this Black Friday
Check which Switch you are buying for. Donkey Kong Bananza, Mario Kart World and Pokopia only run on a Switch 2. Switch 2 Edition cartridges run on both consoles, and most original Switch games, Galaxy included, run on both. The "Plays on" line on each card tells you which is which.
Do not buy a Switch 2 Edition of a game you own. Tears of the Kingdom and Mario Party Jamboree owners can get the Switch 2 improvements through an eShop upgrade pack for much less than a new cartridge.
Ignore the list price. Nintendo's list prices barely change, and Amazon sells most new first-party games for about a dollar under them. Compare a Black Friday price with the recent selling price and the 12-month low we quote in each Pick. Under $60 for Tears of the Kingdom or Mario Party Jamboree would match their best price of the past year; $79 is no saving.
Look at bundles before buying Mario Kart World. If a Switch 2 is on your list too, the Mario Kart World bundle usually beats buying the console and game apart.
Keep gift cartridges sealed. If there is any chance the recipient already owns the game, leave the shrink wrap on and check the return date on your Amazon order page before you hand it over.
How we chose these switch games deals
Every deal on this page was selected and checked by Ed Hollinghurst. We start from products with a strong track record in independent reviews and owner feedback, then compare the current Black Friday price against the product's typical selling price over the past months, not just the inflated list price. A deal only makes the cut if the product is genuinely good and the discount is real.
