Several of the PS5 games below hit their lowest Amazon prices of the past year during Thanksgiving week 2025: God of War Ragnarök fell under $20, Elden Ring to $15 and Split Fiction to $30. A month out, two Picks are already well under their usual prices. Resident Evil Requiem is at its lowest price of the past year, and God of War Ragnarök is about $10 under its recent average.
We checked every price against what each disc sold for on Amazon over the past 90 days and its lowest price of the past year, not the list price. Where a game is not discounted yet, its Pick says so.

#1Best overall
Astro Bot (PS5)
by PlayStation
Astro Bot is the PS5 game we would recommend to almost anyone who owns the console. It won Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2024, holds a Metacritic score of 94, and IGN put it in the same company as Super Mario Odyssey. It also does more with the DualSense controller than any other game on this list, which is the point of buying a PS5 in the first place. With an E10+ rating and no in-game purchases, it suits a family as well as an adult player.
Skip it if you want something to last all winter. Team Asobi's own estimate is 12 to 15 hours.
This is not a deal yet. At about $45 it costs a couple of dollars more than its 90-day average, and it sold for about $33 in February. We would wait for Black Friday week.
Pros
- +Metacritic 94 and The Game Awards 2024 Game of the Year
- +The best showcase for the DualSense's haptics and triggers
- +Rated E10+, so it suits families
- +Precise, forgiving platforming controls
Cons
- −Short campaign, about 12 to 15 hours by the developer's estimate
- −Single-player only

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (PS5)
by Kepler Interactive
Clair Obscur won Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2025 and took a record nine awards that night. It is the RPG we would pick for anyone who grew up on Final Fantasy: IGN described it as an ode to that series, and GamesRadar+ called it an outstanding visionary debut for Sandfall Interactive. The fights are turn-based, but you dodge and parry enemy attacks in real time, which keeps every battle active.
Push Square and Gfinity both note that the parry timing has a learning curve, and the game has no minimap, which some players will miss. It is rated M.
At about $50 it sits a few dollars above its 90-day average, so this is not a deal. It sold for $40 last December, which is the price to watch for.
Pros
- +The Game Awards 2025 Game of the Year, with a record nine awards
- +Turn-based combat with real-time parries and dodges
- +An ode to classic Final Fantasy, says IGN
- +Metacritic 92

Ghost of Yōtei, Standard Edition (PS5)
by PlayStation
Ghost of Yōtei is Sony's newest big exclusive and our open-world pick. Sucker Punch, the studio behind Ghost of Tsushima, tells a new story in 1600s Hokkaido, so you do not need to have played the first game. GameSpot gave it 9 out of 10 and Game Informer 9.3. IGN was cooler at 8 out of 10, finding the revenge story predictable, but agreed that the scenery and sword fights carry it.
If you have tired of open-world games built on map markers and side camps, this one will not change your mind; it refines the formula more than it reinvents it.
At about $54 it is a couple of dollars under its 90-day average, a small saving. It sold for $49 during Sony's Days of Play sale in late May.
Pros
- +Scenery and sword combat praised across reviews
- +9/10 from GameSpot and 9.3 from Game Informer
- +Standalone story, so no need to play Ghost of Tsushima first
Cons
- −Predictable revenge story
- −Sticks closely to familiar open-world structure

Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Standard Edition (PS5)
by PlayStation
Spider-Man 2 is the best superhero game on the console, and GamesRadar+ went further, calling it the quintessential one. Swinging across New York is fast enough to feel like a ride, IGN singled out how quickly it loads and fast-travels, and you switch between Peter Parker and Miles Morales as the story needs. Its T rating makes it the action game here we would buy for a teenager.
Kotaku and PC Gamer both found the Venom arc squeezed into too short a stretch near the end, and the story assumes you know the first game and Miles Morales.
Do not buy it at this price. At about $52 it costs about $4 more than its 90-day average, and Amazon sold it for $29 in late May. Discounts of that size have come around in several sales this year.
Pros
- +Fast, fluid web-swinging across a bigger New York
- +Near-instant loading and fast travel
- +Switch between Peter Parker and Miles Morales
- +Rated T, so it suits teens
Cons
- −The Venom storyline feels rushed in the final act
- −Story picks up from two earlier games

#5
God of War Ragnarök (PS5)
by PlayStation
God of War Ragnarök matches Astro Bot's Metacritic 94, and IGN called it one of the easiest PS5 games to recommend. It continues the story of Kratos and his son Atreus from God of War (2018), with weightier combat and more of the Norse realms to explore. It suits anyone who wants a long, story-led action game and does not mind an M rating.
IGN noted that its quieter, slower sections drag for some players, and the story lands harder if you have played the 2018 game first.
This is one of two real discounts on the list. At about $38 it is roughly $10 under its 90-day average, though last year it fell under $20 on Amazon during Thanksgiving week, so it may get cheaper. Amazon showed a delayed ship date when we checked, so check the delivery estimate if it is a gift.
Pros
- +Metacritic 94
- +Heavy, satisfying axe and blade combat
- +Strong father-and-son story
- +Large, varied realms to explore
Cons
- −Quieter stretches drag
- −Best after playing God of War (2018)
- −Rated M

Resident Evil Requiem, Amazon Exclusive Edition (PS5)
by Capcom
Resident Evil Requiem is the best-reviewed new release of 2026 so far and our horror pick. IGN gave it 9 out of 10 and Game Informer 9.75, and GamesRadar+ called it the most cinematic and emotional game in the series. GameSpot was less taken at 8 out of 10, saying the nods to older entries make parts of it feel like a remake.
Expect a short campaign, roughly 10 to 16 hours across reviews, and a second half that trades exploration for corridors and set pieces. It carries optional in-game purchases and an M rating.
This is the clearest saving here. At about $50 it is roughly $12 under its 90-day average and matches its lowest price of the past year. The Amazon edition is the standard game with a double-sided poster.
Pros
- +9/10 from IGN and 9.75 from Game Informer
- +The most cinematic entry in the series, says GamesRadar+
- +Amazon edition adds a double-sided poster
Cons
- −Campaign runs about 10 to 16 hours
- −Second half leans on corridors and set pieces
- −Optional in-game purchases
- −Rated M

#7Best budget
Split Fiction (PS5)
by Electronic Arts
Split Fiction is the game to buy for two people on one couch. Hazelight's follow-up to It Takes Two was Metacritic's highest-rated game of early 2025, and reviewers rank it among the best two-player co-op games, because it keeps changing its settings and mechanics from one chapter to the next. For online play, one copy is enough: your partner downloads the free Friend's Pass, though online co-op needs PlayStation Plus.
It cannot be played alone, so skip it if you have no regular partner. Digital Trends also found the story muddled and the structure disjointed.
It is the cheapest Pick on the list, which earns it our budget badge, but it is only about a dollar under its 90-day average. Amazon sold it for $30 during Thanksgiving week last year.
Pros
- +Metacritic's highest-rated game of early 2025
- +Built for couch co-op on one screen
- +A free Friend's Pass lets one copy cover an online partner
- +Constant changes of setting and mechanics
Cons
- −Cannot be played solo
- −Thin, muddled story
- −Online co-op needs PlayStation Plus

Elden Ring (PS5)
by Bandai Namco
Elden Ring shares the highest Metacritic score on PS5, 96, with Baldur's Gate 3. GamesRadar+ ranks it among the best open-world games of its era, and TechRadar points out that you need no experience of FromSoftware's earlier games to start. IGN called it a fine starting point for the genre. It suits patient players who enjoy learning a fight by losing it.
Everyone else should know that GamesRadar+ also called it exceptionally punishing, and the game rarely tells you where to go.
We wanted the Shadow of the Erdtree Edition, which adds the expansion, but Amazon was not selling it when we checked and third-party sellers wanted well over $100. The base game is about $40, a few dollars under its 90-day average. It fell to $15 during Thanksgiving week last year.
Pros
- +Metacritic 96, tied with Baldur's Gate 3 for the top score on PS5
- +Huge open world that rewards curiosity
- +No genre experience needed to start, says TechRadar
- +Optional online co-op for tough bosses
Cons
- −Punishing difficulty
- −Little hand-holding on where to go next
- −Shadow of the Erdtree expansion sold separately
- Genre
- Open-world action RPG
- ESRB
- M
- Developer
- FromSoftware

- No (optional co-op)

How to choose PS5 games this Black Friday
Check the age rating before buying a gift. Astro Bot is rated E10+, Spider-Man 2 and Split Fiction are rated T, and the other five Picks are rated M. The rating is printed on the front of every US box.
Count the players. Split Fiction needs two people, on one couch or online with PlayStation Plus. Every other Pick here is built around a single-player campaign, so a two-player household is better served by Split Fiction than by a second copy of anything.
Make sure your console takes discs. These are physical copies. The PS5 Pro and the Digital Edition need Sony's add-on Disc Drive, which we cover in our PS5 Black Friday deals. If you would rather not add one, wait for the PlayStation Store's own Black Friday sale.
Ignore the list price. Most PS5 game listings show a $50 or $70 list price that few of them sell for during a sale. Judge a deal by what the game sold for over the past 90 days and by its 12-month low, which we quote in every Pick. Spider-Man 2 at $52 looks like a saving against $70, but it sold for $29 in May.
Order early if it is a gift. God of War Ragnarök showed a delayed ship date on Amazon when we checked, so look at the delivery estimate before you order. Amazon usually extends its return window over the holidays, but confirm the date on your order page and keep the game sealed until you know it is the right one.
How we chose these ps5 games deals
Every deal on this page was selected and checked by Ed Hollinghurst. We start from products with a strong track record in independent reviews and owner feedback, then compare the current Black Friday price against the product's typical selling price over the past months, not just the inflated list price. A deal only makes the cut if the product is genuinely good and the discount is real.
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon.com at the time of purchase will apply to the purchase of this product.
