Thanksgiving week is usually when tablets sell for the least on Amazon: last year the base iPad hit its 12-month low over Thanksgiving weekend and the iPad mini on Cyber Monday. A month out, the one big cut is on the Fire HD 10: under $75, its lowest price in a year, after Amazon said it will stop making Fire tablets. Every other tablet here sells less than $40 under its usual price, and four sell at or above it.
We judged every price against what each tablet sold for on Amazon over the past 90 days, not the list price, which rose this year for Apple and Samsung. Every tablet below is sold by Amazon itself. If you only want an iPad, our iPad deals cover more models.
Our picks at a glance
9 deals1.The tablet most households should buy, for streaming, homework and games. A few dollars under its usual Amazon price for now.
2.The iPad for notes, drawing and multitasking, with M4 speed and Apple Intelligence. About $35 under its 90-day average.
3.A 10-inch screen for video, reading and kids' apps for under $75, its lowest Amazon price of the past year.
4.The best Android tablet Amazon sells, with an OLED screen and S Pen in the box. Above its 90-day average now, so wait for a cut.
5.Android with Google Play and long update support for less than the base iPad. Selling above its usual Amazon price, not discounted.
6.The cheapest Samsung tablet here with an S Pen in the box. Selling well above its 90-day average, not discounted.
7.The small tablet for one-hand reading and travel. At its usual Amazon price, and an OLED successor arrives November 6.
8.Amazon's new big-screen tablet, with Google Play and Alexa+. Still at its launch price, with no discount so far.
9.The best tablet screen you can buy, with an M5 chip and multitasking close to a laptop. About $30 under its 90-day average.
Our picks
#1Best overall
Apple iPad 11-inch (A16), 128GB, Wi-Fi
by Apple
The base iPad is the tablet we would hand most households. It runs every streaming, school and game app, starts at 128GB, and has the deepest library of apps designed for a tablet rather than stretched from a phone. GSMArena called it a competent update, and Tom's Guide and CNN Underscored both name it the value iPad.
It is the wrong choice for note-takers and artists. It skips Apple Intelligence, works only with the cheaper Apple Pencils, and leaves a small air gap between the screen and the glass, so the pen tip feels a step away from the line. The iPad Air below fixes all three.
At $399 it is only a few dollars under its 90-day average. Its 12-month low came over Thanksgiving weekend 2025, before Apple raised its US iPad prices in June, so we would not count on seeing it again.
Pros
- +Runs every major streaming, school and game app
- +128GB of storage in the base model
- +The largest library of apps built for a tablet
- +4.7 stars from nearly 30,000 Amazon ratings
Cons
- −No Apple Intelligence
- −Non-laminated screen with an air gap under the glass
- −Works only with the USB-C and first-generation Apple Pencils
- Screen
- 11-inch LCD
- Storage
- 128GB
- Software
- iPadOS

#2
Apple iPad Air 11-inch (M4), 128GB, Wi-Fi
by Apple
The Air is the iPad to buy if the tablet will do real work: handwritten notes, sketching, photo edits or two apps side by side. Tom's Guide and Stuff both rank it the best tablet for most people this year. Its M4 chip and 12GB of memory run Apple Intelligence and should stay quick for years, and because the display is bonded to the glass, a Pencil Pro stroke lands exactly under the tip.
Skip it if the tablet is mostly for video in bed; the base iPad does that for about $250 less.
At $649 it sells for about $35 under its 90-day average, a small but real cut. Its lower price in June came days before Apple's increase.
Pros
- +M4 chip with 12GB of memory
- +Runs Apple Intelligence
- +Works with the Apple Pencil Pro
- +Laminated screen, unlike the base iPad
Cons
- −60Hz LCD, with no ProMotion or OLED
- −No Face ID
- Screen
- 11-inch LCD
- Storage
- 128GB
- Software
- iPadOS

#3Best budget
Amazon Fire HD 10 (2023, 13th Gen), 4GB RAM, 32GB, Black
by Amazon
This is the cheapest tablet we would still buy, and the clearest price cut on this page so far. The 10.1-inch 1080p screen is sharp enough for streaming, reading and video calls, and Tom's Guide and TechRadar both reported its October price as the lowest they had seen. It suits a child, a kitchen counter or a long flight.
Know what you are getting. Fire OS has no Google Play, so apps come from Amazon's own store, and the chip is slow to open and switch apps. On October 8 Amazon announced it will stop making Fire tablets in favor of the new Alexa Tablets. It says existing Fire tablets will keep getting support, and CNBC reported that means four years after the last one ships.
At under $75 it is about $55 below its 90-day average and at its lowest price of the past year.
Pros
- +Sharp 10.1-inch 1080p screen for video and reading
- +microSD slot for more storage
- +Built-in parental controls for children's profiles
- +4.5 stars from more than 45,000 Amazon ratings
Cons
- −No Google Play store
- −Slow to open and switch apps
- −Discontinued: Amazon has stopped making Fire tablets
- Screen
- 10.1-inch 1080p LCD
- Storage
- 32GB, plus microSD
- Software
- Fire OS

#4
Samsung Galaxy Tab S11, 11-inch, 128GB, Wi-Fi, Gray
by Samsung
The Galaxy Tab S11 is the best Android tablet Amazon sells itself, and PCMag names it its top Android pick. Notebookcheck praised its bright OLED screen and strong speakers, the S Pen comes in the box, and it is rated IP68 against dust and water. Samsung's newer Tab S12+ and S12 Ultra are not sold by Amazon in the US; Samsung and Best Buy carry them.
Notebookcheck also found the battery merely average and the fingerprint reader slow, and Samsung leaves the charger out of the box.
Wait for a discount before buying. At about $900 it sells for about $60 more than its 90-day average, and it went for far less in late June. Expert Reviews already felt it was starting to look overpriced. If you mainly want the S Pen, the Tab S10 FE below costs about $350 less.
Pros
- +Bright 11-inch OLED screen
- +S Pen included
- +IP68 dust and water resistance
- +Strong speakers for a tablet this size
Cons
- −No charger in the box
- −Average battery life
- −Slow fingerprint reader
- Screen
- 11-inch AMOLED
- Storage
- 128GB
- Software
- Android, Google Play

#5
Samsung Galaxy Tab A11+, 11-inch, 6GB RAM, 128GB, Wi-Fi, Gray
by Samsung
The Tab A11+ is the lower-cost tablet for people who live in Google's apps. Unlike the Fire HD 10, it runs Google Play and Gmail out of the box, and PhoneCompass notes Samsung's promise of seven years of Android and security updates. Notebookcheck found it well made, with only a little flex in the housing.
Tech Advisor came away underwhelmed because so little has changed from the Tab A9+, and TechRadar's Dutch edition found the battery on the small side. It does not work with a stylus, so students who handwrite notes should look at the Tab S10 FE.
At $299.99 it sells for about $20 above its 90-day average and well above its June low, so this is not a deal yet. That leaves it only about $100 below the base iPad, so we would wait for a cut unless you specifically want Android.
Pros
- +Google Play and Google's own apps
- +Seven years of Android and security updates promised
- +90Hz screen and four speakers
- +microSD slot for more storage
Cons
- −Little changed from the Galaxy Tab A9+
- −Modest battery
- −No stylus support
- Screen
- 11-inch LCD
- Storage
- 128GB, plus microSD
- Software
- Android, Google Play

#6
Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE, 10.9-inch, 8GB RAM, 128GB, Wi-Fi, Gray
by Samsung
The Tab S10 FE is the cheaper way into Samsung's S Pen tablets. Like the Tab S11, it comes with the S Pen and an IP68 rating, and PhoneArena rates it the best mid-range Samsung tablet. It suits a student who takes handwritten notes and would rather have Android than an iPad. This is the US model, not an import.
The savings show in the screen and the chip. The 10.9-inch 90Hz LCD lacks the depth of the Tab S11's OLED, and Samsung's Exynos processor is a step slower.
At $549.99 it sells for about $70 more than its 90-day average and far above its August low, so wait for a discount. It still costs about $350 less than the Tab S11.
Pros
- +S Pen included
- +IP68 dust and water resistance
- +US version, not an international import
- +4.7 stars from more than 1,100 Amazon ratings
Cons
- −90Hz LCD rather than OLED
- −Slower chip than the Galaxy Tab S11
- Screen
- 10.9-inch LCD
- Storage
- 128GB
- Software
- Android, Google Play

#7
Apple iPad mini (A17 Pro), 128GB, Wi-Fi
by Apple
The mini is the tablet for one hand: reading in bed, a travel screen or a small child's first iPad. CNN Underscored and Trusted Reviews both name it the best small tablet, and unlike the base iPad it runs Apple Intelligence and takes the Apple Pencil Pro.
Timing matters more than its 60Hz screen. Apple's OLED iPad mini with an A20 Pro chip reaches stores November 6, which makes this the outgoing model. Buy it only if a small iPad for less matters more to you than the new screen, and only once it is discounted.
At $559.99 it is a couple of dollars under its 90-day average, which is no real saving. It sold for far less on Cyber Monday last year, before Apple's price increase.
Pros
- +Small and light enough to hold in one hand
- +Runs Apple Intelligence
- +Works with the Apple Pencil Pro
Cons
- −60Hz LCD
- −Now the previous generation, replaced by an OLED model
- −High price for an 8.3-inch screen
- Screen
- 8.3-inch LCD
- Storage
- 128GB
- Software
- iPadOS

#8
Amazon Alexa Tablet 12 Pro (2026), 8GB RAM, 128GB, Graphite
by Amazon
The Alexa Tablet 12 Pro is Amazon's new flagship, and unlike any Fire tablet it runs Google Play alongside Alexa+. Engadget scored it 8.4 and recommended it for the couch and for travel, and The Shortcut gave it an Editor's Choice award. Reviewers like the 12-inch 2.8K screen, though the anti-glare Nanomatte version they single out is a separate, pricier listing. It suits Prime and Echo households that want Alexa+ on a big screen.
The software is the catch. The Verge gave it 6 out of 10, citing Amazon's ads, the assistant and battery life, and Tom's Guide still found the base iPad's software steadier for most people. The base iPad also costs about $100 less.
This is its first Black Friday. At $499.99 it has not been discounted since it went on sale in October.
Pros
- +Sharp 12-inch 2.8K screen
- +Runs Google Play, unlike any Fire tablet
- +Alexa+ built in for Prime and Echo households
Cons
- −Amazon ads and promotions in the software
- −Battery life criticized by The Verge
- −Few owner ratings so far
- Screen
- 12-inch 2.8K
- Storage
- 128GB
- Software
- Android, Google Play, Alexa+

#9Best premium
Apple iPad Pro 11-inch (M5), 256GB, Wi-Fi
by Apple
The iPad Pro is the best tablet you can buy if price is not the deciding factor. Trusted Reviews calls its tandem OLED the best screen on any tablet, and Stuff found that the M5 and the latest iPadOS multitasking now come close to a laptop. Notebookcheck's tablet ranking puts the 11-inch Pro first. It suits artists, video editors and anyone who wants one device for work and the couch.
The total climbs quickly once you add the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil Pro. If you mainly read, stream and take notes, the iPad Air does those for about $450 less.
At about $1,100 it is about $30 under its 90-day average. Its lower price in February came before Apple's June increase.
Pros
- +Tandem OLED screen with 120Hz ProMotion
- +M5 chip with 256GB of storage
- +Face ID
- +Multitasking that comes close to a laptop
Cons
- −Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil Pro cost extra
- −More power than most tablet owners will use
- Screen
- 11-inch tandem OLED
- Storage
- 256GB
- Software
- iPadOS

How to choose a tablet this Black Friday
Choose the software before the hardware. iPadOS has the deepest selection of tablet apps. Android brings Google's apps and, on some models, a microSD slot. Fire OS has no Google Play and suits Amazon video, Kindle books and kids' content; the new Alexa Tablets fix that by running Google Play.
Decide if you need a pen. For notes and drawing, buy the iPad Air or one of the Galaxy Tab S models, which include the S Pen. The base iPad works only with the cheaper Apple Pencils, and the Galaxy Tab A11+ has no stylus support.
Buy enough storage for downloads. 128GB covers most people who stream. The Fire HD 10's 32GB fills quickly, so add a microSD card; iPads cannot be expanded, so size up if you download films for travel.
Ignore the list price. Apple and Samsung both list their tablets higher than a year ago, so the saving on each card, measured against the list price, overstates the deal. The number that tells you whether a price is good is the 90-day average we quote in each Pick. Several tablets here sell above their summer prices, and we recheck them as Black Friday approaches.
Buy when the price is right, then check the return date. Amazon usually extends its return window over the holidays, so an early November purchase can often go back if the price falls by Cyber Monday. Confirm the date on your order page.
How we chose these tablet deals
Every deal on this page was selected and checked by Ed Hollinghurst. We start from products with a strong track record in independent reviews and owner feedback, then compare the current Black Friday price against the product's typical selling price over the past months, not just the inflated list price. A deal only makes the cut if the product is genuinely good and the discount is real.
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon.com at the time of purchase will apply to the purchase of this product.
